The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters). 

Additional Info:

  • This position is located in Lafayette, IN and does not offer relocation

  • This role will typically work night shift hours with potential weekend responsibilities

  • Travel expected - Less than 10%

What You Will Do:

  • Ensures effective operation of an assigned areas to meet established schedules and production requirements while maintaining cost.
  • Develops plans for efficient use of machines and manpower to achieve cost, quality and inventory management targets.
  • Monitors customer delivery performance, cost reduction programs, lead-time improvements, and quality improvement projects that will enhance customer value and business unit results.
  • Ensures proper direction and supervision of activities in assigned area to maintain effective utilization of personnel and machinery.
  • Determines needs and coordinates actions required to maintain standards of efficiency, quality and safety in area supervised.
  • Implement various corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Internal Certification, etc.
  • Promotes development of people through continued education, employee involvement, and increased responsibility. Trains new supervisors on quality operations through PQVC. Sets goals and assists team in meeting goals/standards.
  • Actively drives and supports Continuous Improvement process, making sure new ideas are generated, worked and implemented, and any roadblocks are eliminated.
  • Initiates and conducts process improvement dialogs with Section Managers, Team Leads and Team Members.
  • Develops detailed near-term and long-term production plans.
  • Drives root cause analysis and resolution on all forms of loss, i.e., safety, quality, production.
  • Performs periodic audits for safety behavior, 5S, quality, standard work, and productivity.

  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

  • Transportation - MFG: Knowledge of transportation; ability to transport materials and goods to and from suppliers, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities and customers.

  • Experience with Lean methodologies and implementation
