The starting wage for this role is $25.00/hour with monthly incentive bonus opportunities. It is the responsibility of the Finishing Technician to plan and schedule shipments of steel plate and accurately prepare billing documents and maintain record-keeping systems. Incumbents in this position will be expected to cross train into other positions within a work team. These positions can require seeking qualifications such as an overhead crane operator or in maintaining painting equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform routine inspections of equipment to include: Overhead cranes, furnace, stencil machine, blast cabinet, paint booth, oil booth, and forklift

  • Operating and monitoring the function of all applicable equipment to include: locating, stocking, stenciling, recording and changing plates

  • Operate overhead cranes to assist in the loading and unloading of trailers and railcars, and to store and organize plate

  • Follow and adhere to all applicable Safe Job Procedures and Visual Standard Work

  • Complete 6S work on a daily basis


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to work up to 12 hours per day, on any shift, any day of the week including nights, weekends, holidays and/or overtime

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Self-initiating, well organized, problem solver

  • Able to work independently with moderate to minimal supervision, as well as in a team setting

  • Good math skills

  • Computer skills (Excel, Word, OIS)

  • Ability to become certified to operate overhead cranes

  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to become qualified in production and equipment maintenance

  • Able to work outdoors for long periods of time in various weather conditions

  • Successful completion of ergonomic evaluation with demonstrated ability to push, pull, and lift 50 pounds.
