WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

Apparel and Accessories Costing Team is a function of Apparel and Accessories Supply Chain, driving costing model that is transparent, fair and fully digital across apparel and accessories. The team provides predictability, scalability and benchmarking of Nike manufacturing costs that improves end to end margin planning, cost mitigation and sourcing decisions. This role reports to Director, Apparel/Acc Costing, N Asia based in Shanghai

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The ideal candidate should have relevant experience and knowledge in Apparel/Accessories industrial engineering, costing, product construction, or production management. Good in product complexity analysis, workflow study and data management skills. Have good communication in technical manufacturing concepts with other stakeholders. A self-starter with ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Willing to learn and with “can-do” attitude. And below qualifications:

  • Diploma or above. Minimum of 2-year work experience
  • Certificate of General Sewing Data (GSD) and relevant knowledge in SAM (Standard Allowed Minute) /SMV (Standard Minute Value) analysis.
  • Able to communicate in verbal and written English. Mandarin is a plus.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

As a Cost Engineer, this role will work closely with ACE managers and directors in optimizing the cost models in Nike, creating SAM/SMV database, managing the product cost analysis from manufacturing perspective, and driving cost improvement with best practice sharing. She/He will closely collaborate with both Nike internal and external stakeholders including factory partners to understand, collect and analyze the cost-related information, and then align the standard and processes.

Core Responsibilities include:

Product Cost Engineering Analysis

  • Assist the Director/IE (Industrial Engineer) managers to design and enhance the product cost review tools (e.g. Product Standard Minutes - SAM/SMV database, Cost Matrices & Calculators) for quick and accurate product cost assessment.
  • Analyze the product cost based on style constructions, factory cost structure and other related cost factors e.g. Manufacturing efficiency during product development.
  • Liaise with Factory Partners (mostly their costing or IE teams) in case of critical gap (e.g. in SAM/SMV or other related production process) vs their quotation. Support the product development to resolve the costing challenges from product perspective.

Update Nike cost model

  • Collect, review and analyze manufacturing information from factories or market research (machines, workflow, output/efficiency…) for setting the reasonable and sustainable cost models.
  • Track and report cost drivers (e.g. SAM/SMV, Efficiency/Productivity) Study the impact and drive the review with the key functions including factory partners, Manufacturing Engineering team and Product creation team.

Improve factory cost performance

  • Collect and analyze production data. Report the factory performance through scoring Manufacturing Index or other measurements.
  • Study and share the best practice to improve the cost performance of factories. Regularly review and update any related cost benchmarks.
