About your team:
You’ll be working centrally within our mission control room, aka Centrica’s group functions. From Finance and Data Science, to our Wellbeing and People teams - this is the engine of our energy system, where our various Centres of Excellence power up each of our brilliant businesses, ensuring they have all the support, technologies, and capabilities they need to get our customers to Net Zero by 2050.

About the Role: We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Product Engineer to join our Nucleus design system team. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with designers, developers, and the teams using the design system to create and maintain the core components, tools and guidelines to bring consistency, accessibility, and exceptional user experiences for our customers.
Location: Predominantly home-based with occasional travel to Windsor

Key Responsibilities:
Design System Development: Grow and refine our design system, including components, documentation, and tools
UI Component Creation: Develop and maintain reusable UI components that adhere to our design guidelines
Code Quality: Ensure code is clean, efficient, and sustainable, following industry best practices
Code Reviews: Conduct thorough code reviews, provide feedback, and ensure adherence to coding standards
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with product managers, designers, and developers to understand project needs and translate them into design system features
What We Need from You:
Technical Skills: Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks
UX/UI Principles: Strong understanding of user experience and interface design principles
Accessibility: Good understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
Web Components: Experience with technologies like Lit (preferred)
Design Systems: Experience in using design systems to build interfaces (nice to have)
Responsive Design: Knowledge of responsive web design practices
CI/CD: Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment processes
Competencies:
Problem-Solving: Creative and inventive in solving challenges
Communication: Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit
Strategic Analysis: Insightful in strategic system analysis
