What we are looking for:

Fund Administration is responsible for the overall operations and administration of Fiera’s various fund structures. This includes a complex line-up of over 100 funds domiciled in Canada, the U.S, UK and Cayman Islands. The teams work closely with Fiera’s product development and distribution teams to define and manage the product offerings ensuring that service delivery, operational risk, operational readiness, regulatory compliance, profitability, and scale is achieved in each product.

Under the supervision of the Supervisor, Unitholder Recordkeeping, the Analyst, Unitholder Recordkeeping will be part of a growing team within a global organization focused on facilitating the internal and external recordkeeping of unitholder transactions across all of Fiera’s Canadian pooled funds. The role will be exposed to a vast range of public and private markets funds with a multitude of investment strategies (fixed income, equity, alternative investments, etc.). In collaboration with members of their team, the role will participate in the implementation of continuous process improvement and business procedure initiatives. The position will be part of a dynamic global team with investment fund businesses in various jurisdictions that is striving to implement industry best practices and drive improvement across the organization. The candidate will work in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment whereby attention to detail (financial exposure), operational risk, and client focus, are must have traits.

Your responsibilities:

Unitholder recordkeeping:

  • Support and maintain the end-to-end trading process for all of Fiera’s Canadian pooled funds by coordinating new account set ups, fund trade transaction flow and manage third-party investor recordkeeper relationship to ensure success
  • Manage multiple sources of trade information coming from FundServ, Internal Portfolio Management systems and direct trades into the Fiera funds and ensure all trading is properly recorded on time
  • Facilitate wires and cash flows from multiple custodians to / from our fund business and ensure all cash settles on time
  • Reconcile all positions and transactional data between Fiera’s internal book of record and the Recordkeeper.
  • Interact with custodians to ensure all unitholder transactions are reconciled and processed to their book of record according to established standards
  • Provide guidance and expertise for inquires pertaining to unitholder records, received from various internal teams
  • Participate in various cross-functional projects aimed at optimizing processes and executing firm/industry/regulatory changes
  • Develop enhanced procedures for a growing global business
  • Exercise sound judgement in the application of procedures and controls
  • Apply a mix of acquired practical and conceptual knowledge in own area of functional discipline to analyze and problem solve
  • Understand where department fits into the organization and general understanding of other functional teams

Must have requirements to be successful in this role:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration and/or related college degree with equivalent work experience required
  • MBA / CFA not mandatory but considered assets
  • Other industry certifications not mandatory but considered assets (e.g. Canadian Securities Course)
  • 1-3 years of investment operations / fund administration experience in an asset manager / administrator setting
  • Strong analytical skills for problem resolution
  • Organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities
  • Results oriented with a strong capacity to work under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and client servicing skills
  • Ability to work independently and interact effectively in a group environment
  • Diligence, diplomacy and discretion to handle information which is confidential by nature
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Bilingualism (French and English), spoken and written is a strong asset
