In this exciting role within the Growth Capital team, you’ll be supporting high growth, entrepreneurial owner-managed businesses and lower mid-market Private Equity or Venture Capital backed small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with their financing needs. The Growth Capital team provide a range of both senior and stretched-senior debt products to their client base.

You’ll be a core member of the wider Structured Finance Group, a division within Santander’s Corporate and Commercial Banking (CCB). Structured Finance’s focus is primarily debt-led, delivering bespoke funding solutions, mainly for complex and event driven opportunities, across both new and existing CCB clients.

If you’ve got a good head for numbers and previous structured finance experience, this could be the perfect opportunity to develop your career.

The difference you’ll make:

  • Supporting event driven and complex transactions, whilst maintaining high levels of credit quality
  • Building relationships with clients and supporting their growth by providing innovative and flexible debt solutions
  • Using or developing your technical, legal and credit and debt structuring skills and applying them in structured finance transactions
  • Assisting with the management of all aspects of a deal team’s activities, including timeline management, credit writing, financial analysis/modelling, committee presentations and assisting external legal counsel and third-party advisors to document and close transactions
  • Helping analyse and manage transaction risk by making informed decisions and communicating effectively with key stakeholders
  • Identifying credit issues early and taking necessary actions to mitigate such risks

What you’ll bring:

These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

  • Excellent financial modelling capability and credit risk knowledge
  • Exposure to and experience in negotiating deal structures
  • Demonstrable experience in Structured Finance

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Relevant experience in a Corporate Banking or Corporate Finance environment, with an appropriate form of qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CFA or equivalent
  • An understanding of the essential requirements of business and demonstrating a concern for commercial success
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and develop relationships both internally and externally
  • Meticulous attention to detail

What else you need to know:

This permanent role is based in Birmingham.

We want our people to thrive at work and home, and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).

If you apply for this role in any of these locations, it’s important you consider your travelling distance, time and cost from your home to the office locations.

We’re happy to discuss specific working patterns and arrangement within this hybrid approach during the recruitment process.

If you’re interested in this role but with part time hours or a job-share we would still love to hear from you and discuss these.
