Department Overview

Global Business Operations and Services (GBOS) provide critical infrastructure services that support and/or control the trading, investment and corporate banking functions of TD Securities. Our mission is ‘To Deliver World Class Service’ to all internal and external clients as we place a focus on people, processes and controls. The group also provides an independent and objective review of the processes used through the various product trade lifecycles.  Our diverse and dynamic team is divided into five main functional areas: Capital Markets, Financing Operations, Payment and Correspondent Banking Services, Business Services, and Change Delivery.

The Operations team in the Tokyo office is part of Capital Markets and partners with the front office and other groups globally to mitigate risk and deliver world class service. The team provides operational support within the Fixed Income Trade lifecycle including trade allocations, exception management, confirmations and client investigations.  They also assist with the outreach to clients for KYC documentation. The team takes great pride in ensuring controls are being continuously reviewed and updated while focusing on the customer at every point of contact.  

Position Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the Fixed Income Sales Team in the Tokyo office and their clients. The team is a key liaison point across the trade life cycle with clients and global business partners in Singapore, Toronto, New York and London to mitigate risk and provide seamless client service.  This position is also responsible to explore and deliver leading edge innovation and process improvements.   

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with and oversee the accurate affirmation, confirmation and settlement of Fixed Income transactions

  • Assist with sub-account set up and allocations by acting as an intermediary between Japanese clients, the Desk and the other GOBS teams

  • Liaise with Japanese clients and with Singapore, London, New York and Toronto GBOS to resolve pre or post settlement issues

  • Attend to ad-hoc client service requests from clients

  • Assist with KYC document collection from clients and the translation of the documentation once received

  • Preparation and ongoing maintenance of procedural documentation

  • Provide operational coverage to other asset classes (ie Foreign Exchange and/or Derivatives) as directed by local head/ team manager.

Job Requirements:

  • Tertiary education

  • At least five years of experience in Capital Markets in a similar Operations role

  • Strong experience in the Fixed Income markets

  • Candidates with FX / Derivatives markets experience will be highly regarded

  • Team player who can collaborate across global teams

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both the English and Japanese languages to communicate with broader teams globally

  • Business focused with understanding of operational workflows - Knowledge of Capital Markets and business acumen on the trade lifecycle

  • Working knowledge of various system applications would be beneficial.
    Examples being Calypso, Murex, Swift, Omgeo CTM, Euroclear and Bloomberg

  • Strong judgement and problem solving - thinks ahead, anticipates questions and finds alternative solutions

  • Creative thinking and analytical skills to review processes, build process flows, and identify opportunities for improvement 

  • Ability to manage stakeholder expectations 

  • Interpersonal and relationship management skills 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Visio, Adobe and PowerPoint (Strong Excel skill is preferable.)

  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and networking skills

  • Promotes a positive and cooperative team environment that encourages mutual respect, productivity, innovation and creativity

  • Responsible for ensuring local and functional Managers are kept current and apprised of all relevant risk management and control issues
