Responsible for locomotive maintenance & shop operations of a world-class Locomotive Service Shop to meet business metrics & customer expectations.  Provide leadership and operational guidance during the ramp-up phase to ensure for the Service Shop is ready to handle locomotives per contractual milestones.  Build a strong cross functional team of various operations staff.  Implement the maintenance operations playbook and drive a culture of quality, cost and safety amongst the workforces. Drive key operational & team success and support overall business profitability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Establish a vision for maintenance operations framework for Service Shop incorporating lean principles and Wabtec Smart Shop philosophy.
  • Set strategic direction for planning and scheduling work orders based on predictive, scheduled & unscheduled loco maintenance activities.
  • Work Closely with the Indian Railway deputed Officer to for compliance of contract, protecting Wabtec IP & proper utilization of Indian Railways resources.
  • Strong coordination with the Wabtec & Indian Railway team to implement the safety culture & good best practices to improve the productivity.
  • Hire & grow a world class, highly competent technical team with high levels of passion, determination & achievement. 
  • Create efficient labor force deployment plans across COEs and shifts structure teams of technical labor force based on volume forecasts & types of repair/maintenance. 
  • Setup & drive customer facing process for reconciling metrics & reports on a weekly/monthly basis.  Interface with divisional stakeholders of the customer.
  • Embrace Lean & Digital tools, drive continuous improvement projects around cycle time and cost reduction.   Implement Wabtec Smart Shop techniques.
  • Encourage and support EHS, Quality efforts to drive a culture of safety & quality.  Stay compliant with local regulations and specific customer safety policies.
  • Exhibit outstanding leadership and effectively communicate well with all levels of the organization including senior leadership.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 18+ years of services and/or manufacturing operations, preferably in a global company
  • Demonstrated leadership in driving change in a matrixed environment.
  • Ability to successfully motivate and maintain employee involvement while driving change.
  • Prior experience of setting up operations for a large greenfield/brownfield facility.
  • Hands on experience in implementing Quality systems & mythologies.

Desired Characteristics:

Boundary less thinker MBA or master’s degree Lean Manufacturing Experience Certified Six Sigma Black Belt Ability to build & manage relationships with customers.
