Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Parking Operations Manager the Parking Operations Supervisor will monitor, supervise and handle the parking, traffic, and garage issues at Huntington Place.
Key Job Elements:
- Assist in the planning, set-up and execution of all traffic control plans.
- Work closely with Event Coordinators on timing of traffic flow for the Center and the needs to divide or reserve portions of the parking area.
- Work closely with Detroit Police Department on all events maintaining traffic flow into lots. Also assist police with keeping a sharp eye out for illegal activity in the parking lot and around the building.
- Responsible for the coordinating and selling of parking for all monthly and pre-paid patrons.
- Train and develop Maintenance and Attendant staff.
- Assure that all equipment needed for parking control during events including cones, barricades, signs, parking equipment and ticketing machines are functioning properly.
- Maintain inventory of all parking lot related equipment and uniforms.
- Prevent distribution of fliers and other advertising material in parking lots.
- Assure parking lots are maintained in a fashion that appropriately represents the Center.
- Assist patrons who have car challenges at the end of events.
- Act in a professional manner with clients, employees, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment.
- Provide the best service possible to every client, patron and vendor.
- Work extended and/or irregular house including nights weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to make sound judgments and represent the Parking Services Department in a professional manner.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education - A high school diploma.
- Experience - 2+ years of related experience in parking and security. Operate equipment such as light trucks, gator, carts, hand trucks and light power driving equipment. Work with automated pay parking systems. Operate a computer using Word, Excel, Outlook, portable radio and other related standard office equipment. Two plus years of cash handling or auditing experience.
- Communication Skills - Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
- Organized - Able to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Customer Focus - Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results. Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, and patrons. Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
- Licensed - Have a valid State of Michigan driver’s license.
