For the role of Senior Business Affairs Manager, we are looking for an individual with a solid understanding of the processes of producing moving image, stills and radio content in the UK and European markets. Some experience globally would also be beneficial.
This position Involves managing the production, legal, business and financial aspects of Broadcast, Print and Digital production for our Clients, including production and talent contracting, budget administration, licensing of third-party materials, and scoping and managing of legal issues (including interpretation of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) commercial contract as it relates to specific productions).
They will manage, conduct and oversee a wide range of Legal & Business Affairs activities in accordance with all relevant policies and frameworks. Have a thorough understanding of the IPA and APA guidelines, Clearcast and other industry associations and music industry practices.
They would be working to support the Head of Production and the production teams in all administration requirements, in order to enable them to focus on their role as Creative Producers and to ensure the smooth running of productions and the department.
Job Responsibilities
- Handle talent contracting for all areas of production, including coordinating with video team to secure interactive rights; interpret SAG contract provisions.
- Prepare talent contracts, including standard SAG, over-scale, and non-union talent and print model agreements.
- Negotiate celebrity talent.
- Review creative for potential legal issues, including clearances and licensing of third-party print and social media materials.
- Work closely with legal counsel in resolving potential production liabilities and creating solutions for agency and clients including contract templates, risk assessments, IP questions and indemnifications where necessary
- Trademark searches for proposed branding, taglines, signage, design etc in tandem with agency legal counsel where necessary
- Handle third-party clearances and licensing (including music, stock images, software, etc.) necessary for production.
- Prepare formal production estimates for client approval.
- Approve and facilitate invoice approvals and payment.
- Assist producers in closing jobs for final billing.
- Track and maintain meticulous records for all third party material licenses.
- Comprehensive understanding of Business Affairs for the advertising industry including market knowledge where applicable (e.g. of independent production costs and talent fees)
- Sound understanding of the production process, proven negotiating and influencing skills and strong contracting experience
- Extensive knowledge on the IPA/APA advertising practices and guidelines, vendor and talent estimates, negotiations, contracts, rights and clearance in partnership with agency legal counsel where necessary
- Consult on miscellaneous legal and contractual items within the agency
- Work closely with Dan Simonetti, Head of Business Affairs, Droga 5 NY where needed
- Work directly with the producers in all phases of the production process. Review concepts/scripts/storyboards and clearly communicate legal and regulatory body clearance to a wide audience within the agency
- Assist Broadcast Producers, Creative Producers, Creatives and Account teams to negotiate and contract all Artist/Model, Music, V/O, Animation, Stock Footage, etc., contracts/agreements.
- Review all department agreements/contracts/licenses (particularly music, artists and PIBs)
- Proven track record of having led and delivered complex projects within both time and budgetary constraints.
- Participate in project scoping discussions, providing Producers and Client services teams with accurate estimates for talent session fees, usage, residuals, and all other talent and music related costs of production
- Fully support & advise account team on regulatory body submissions and clearances for television, cinema, radio, VoD, online prior to playout; UK, ROI and International
- Negotiate music vendor agreements
- Issue talent agreements and foreign talent contracts
- Handle all re-negotiation for talent and music
- Manage intellectual property rights and clearance acquisitions.
- Responsible for obtaining any further approvals as required by Accenture
- Responsible for uploading all supplier contracts into Agency server
- Ensuring that payments are made to suppliers in accordance with standard industry payment terms
- Advise on image licensing, legal issues and insurances
- Liaison with account teams regarding airing and re-airing of commercials
- Review external requests and approve PR uses
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive job files and full records of all production jobs

- 6+ years relevant work experience with a working knowledge of Agency, Media or Creative Industry is preferable.
