Job Description Summary:
The Financial Analyst prepares, analyzes, and monitors financial data periodically and as requested for the School of Medicine Wichita’s multi-million-dollar budget. The Financial Analyst uses multiple systems and applications to monitor budgets, receivables and expenditures, with heavy emphasis on data analysis. The Financial Analyst will serve as advisor for financial systems and policy/procedures, be the liaison between Wichita departments and the KUMC campus and manage contracts.
This position will work in-office Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional remote work upon supervisor approval.

Salary range is $75,000 to $95,000.
Job Description:
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, IT or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in budgeting, financial analysis and/or accounting.
- Experience reconciling accounts.
- Experience in preparing financial reports for upper management.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, ability to design spreadsheets with advanced formulas.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Masters in Business Administration or Public Administration
Experience:
- Experience in higher education.
- Experience with Workday.
- Experience in contract administration.
Skills:
- Intermediate to advanced financial and accounting skills.
- Experience at communicating financial information in a clear, well-organized and simple manner.
- High level of detail and accuracy.
- Ability to detect errors in data.

Job Duties Outlined:
- Develop financial reports and monitor budget-to-actuals for monthly financials and for special projects. Ensure accurate and timely financial data.
- Provide support for the annual budget process; enter and reconcile financial transactions to established budget.
- Independently troubleshoot business process problems presented by customers. Make recommendations for resolution and efficiency.
- Perform all aspects of financial planning, analysis, and reporting; manage the business and financial aspects of special projects.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for business systems and processes such as allocation of payroll expenses to accounts (costing allocations), payroll (PAA) and accounting adjustments (AA), travel and procure-to-pay.
- Communicate and advise departments for policies and procedures relating to business systems, internal controls and required documentation. Train new employees to familiarize them with process, policy and procedure.
- Enter monthly billing and monitor receivables to ensure timely receipt, posting and deposit of revenue.
- Coordinate and perform fiscal year closing tasks to ensure compliance with year-end deadlines.
- Administer Wichita campus contracts from initiation to execution, meeting legal requirements and timelines. Prepare new or revise existing contracts, route contracts to legal counsel for approval as required.
- Remain current and proficient in Microsoft Suite, Workday, and QlikView. Attend training, workshops, conferences and specialized instruction to pursue professional growth as allowed.

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
