JOB PURPOSE:  Design and development of structural components of diesel engines for release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • In this position you will be closely working with Senior engineers / Engineering specialists and execute Design and development activities of structural components of diesel engines such as flywheel / front housings, mounting brackets etc.
  • Handle engineering responsibility in projects such as new product introduction, current product improvement, Resourcing etc.
  • Work with customers, Process partners, SMEs to understand the project requirements and execute the projects as per the requirements.
  • Should independently work on engineering activities from concept to production in component / system development projects. Liaise with cross functional teams as required.
  • Manage multiple projects and communicate results (Achievement towards cost / quality / timeline targets) to customers, suppliers, team members and other cross functional teams as required in various forums.

Educational Requirement

  • BE Mechanical engineering or equivalent with 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in engine industry (or)
  • ME / MTech Mechanical engineering (specialization in IC engines / engineering design / thermal engineering) with 3+ years of relevant experience in engine industry (ideal candidate)

Skill Sets/Competencies (Must have)

  • In-depth design knowledge related to various engine structural components such as housings, mounting brackets etc.
  • Strong knowledge of castings and able to interact with suppliers during development.
  • Experience of New Product Introduction (NPI) (Concept to Production), Value analysis / Value engineering techniques, Issue resolution etc.
  • Knowledge in product development activities like APQP, DFMEA etc.  and able to work with cross functional teams such as Manufacturing, Validation, Purchasing, Quality etc.
  • Strong knowledge of 3D modelling using Creo and design tools such as BJA, GD & T, TSU.
  • Knowledge on Data extraction, structural analysis and problem solving.
  • Excellent Project Management, verbal / written communication, and interpersonal skills and experience in working with global teams.
