Job Summary

The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for all indirect taxes, including but not limited to Sales/Use Taxes, Franchise Taxes, Property Taxes and VAT/HST taxes in our international businesses and all other non direct taxes. This role requires high attention to detail and corresponding with internal clients at each Operating company/Brand.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Indirect taxes: Sales/Use, Gross Receipts, Property Taxes, Franchise Taxes and Value added Taxe (VAT), Canadian Good and /services Tax (GST)/(HST) and all other Indirect taxes.

  • Manage all business licenses and registrations in collaboration with legal and outside service provider.

  • Liaison between Finance and HR payroll teams to ensure all tax codes are accurate.

  • Ensure compliance with Sales and Use Tax requirements across all states.

  • Stay updated with Sales and Use Tax rules and regulations and effectively communicate any changes to relevant stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with registered agents to keep state registrations active and in good standing.

  • Create and maintain supporting documentation for all monthly and quarterly returns.

  • Regularly review and understand Nexus Rules and changes in each state of operation.

  • Proactively identify trigger points for sales tax Nexus thresholds to ensure continuous compliance.

  • Obtain, maintain, and update exemption certificates for customers in the states they file in.

  • Monitor changes in current and upcoming indirect tax regulations and ensure ongoing compliance.

  • The Tax Accountant will undertake projects as assigned and perform all required research and analysis to document, support, and communicate conclusions.

  • Foster proactive relationships with internal and external business partners to ensure all all-indirect tax policies and procedures are continuously considered and improved.

QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION and/or JOB EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

  • Must possess a minimum of 5-7 of experience in related role.

  • Must have a strong background in Multi-State Sales Tax compliance

  • Experience consolidating rules and regulation for Tax liabilities, payments and returns

  • Experience in Sales Tax Returns is required.

  • Industry experience preferred (Engineering/Architecture).

  • Required strong attention to detail, deadline-oriented, and excellent communication skills.

  • Understanding of GAAP and FAR regulations.

  • Deltek Vision systems experience preferred.
