Leidos Defense Systems Sector Aerospace business area currently has an opening for a Program Supplier Quality Control Manager to work closely with our Hypersonic Program Managers, Manufacturing and Program Leadership. As the Aerospace Systems Operations. Supplier Quality Manager you will be expected to utilize your experience to implement and oversee aerospace quality assurance and quality control procedures at our supply base in order to create a safe and efficient operating environment. Your efforts will help ensure performance through scheduled supplier process audits, data analytics and the continual facilitation of structured improvement activities. Your duties will include the assurance to processes and procedures that align the Operation with AS9100, AS6500, ISO17025, FAR, and DFAR requirements as well as the execution of established program execution and mission assurance requirements at our supply base. This requires a broad understanding of all aspects of aerospace including manufacturing and integration functions as well as Quality Management Systems.

 THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)

This position is responsible for monitoring and improving Quality Control system at our supply base that will promote satisfaction at our Manufacturing assemblies’ plants and our overall customer. The position will champion quality actives at our suppliers, reporting supplier metrics across the whole program, coordinate with Customer (DCMA) on all supplier quality activities, product approvals (FAI), and any continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to our supplier’s metrics and product.

This position:

  • Serves as the primary supplier Contact on all quality control activities such as problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Previous experience managing Quality Engineers
  • Manages supplier quality activities across the complete Hypersonic program on a day-to-day basis.
  • Help establish and implements supplier metrics for monitoring supplier Quality Control system effectiveness.
  • Supports supplier’s root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Establishes collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality at our suppliers.
  • Interacts with Suppliers, operations Quality and customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with suppliers and purchasing groups.             Supports lity improvement activities as appropriate (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to raise the performance of the suppliers’ product lines.
  • Reports to Senior Quality Management on quality issues, trends, and losses of program suppliers.
  • Participates in supplier quality audits, Manufacturing Readiness Reviews.
  • Supports all collaboration with DCMA and other government and/or customer quality assurance organizations for any supplier issues
  • All other reasonable duties, as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and eight (8) years prior relevant work experience; or Master’s with six (6) year of prior relevant work experience.  In lieu of a degree a High school diploma/GED with 10 years of  direct experience working in aviation programs in support of defense contracts may be substituted for degree.
  • Must have ten (10+) years of experience in QA/QC systems implementation and/or management in a manufacturing and/or product-based environment.
  • In depth knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001 requirements.
  • Experience reviewing requirements on contracts and resources needed to comply to current contract.
  • Ability to review and provide quality control inputs to aviation program manuals, forms, and records.
  • Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
  • Must be proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office products.
  • Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience leading teams of quality professionals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Hypersonic Systems or Space Systems.
  • Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • Experience working knowledge with Assembly, integration, and testing, preferably in Electronics manufacturing
  • Experience working knowledge of one or more special processes i.e., paint, welding, chem film / anodize, heat treat, counterfeit material and be able to audit suppliers to the requirements of these processes
  • Travel will be required Typical about 50%

Pay Range:

Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
