Software Engineer - Geospatial Data Management

As a Software Engineer (SWE) for the ATS Geospatial Content Management System (AGCMS). The SWE will be responsible for sustainment activities and manage all aspects of analyst-generated spatial data for NGA. AGCMS utilizes ESRI products to manage storage, discovery, access, dissemination, and processing in a cloud environment.

The SWE will manage customer data endpoints and assist with data publishing. The SE will also troubleshoot problems with the AGCMS content to support customer issues and review, correct, update, and maintain data as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and deliver an innovative product, service, or a combination of products and services that address a customer's specific requirements in support of ESRI-based GIS systems
  • Provide engineering expertise and guidance for designing, developing, implementing, and sustaining the mission requirements and enhancing overall system security, performance, and availability
  • Provide documentation of the tools and processes used to build and install the software in the production environment
  • Provide regular system requirements and capabilities updates to the client, applying current industrial software development best practices, including iterative and incremental project management techniques and agile software development
  • Interact with members of the technical team leads to understand the current system, subsystems, and component specifications and be able to use experience to recommend changes to facilitate efficient and effective development

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret or Top Secret SCI clearance, preferably with a polygraph
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Systems and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience
  • Demonstrated technical skills in data management and working knowledge of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS)
  • Experience with ArcGIS Server to create and manage GIS Web services, applications, and data
  • Experience with GeoServer to share, process, and edit geospatial data
  • Experience with Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards-based web services such as Web Map Service (WMS), Web Coverage Service (WCS), Web Feature Service (WFS), Web Processing Service (WPS), and Web Map Tile Service (WMTS)
  • Experience with building front-end or back-end Java applications or Django Python
  • Experience with Java Frameworks (Spring, Hibernate) and RESTful web services
  • Experience with JavaScript Frameworks and tools
  • Support the Agile software development lifecycle following Program SAFe practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, Bash, PL/SQL, SQL, PHP
  • Experience with Cloud/Amazon Web Services.
  • Experience with Git or Jenkins
  • Experience with Agile techniques to manage workload

These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have

  • Experience with these Esri tools – Esri Portal, Esri Arcade, and ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Experience with Apache NiFi
  • Experience with PostgreSQL
  • AWS Certification (Developer, DevOps and/or, Architect, etc.)
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms/databases like ElasticSearch
  • Experience with Big Data ingest and processing technologies (e.g. ETL, Hadoop, Elasticsearch for Hadoop, SQL schemas and queries, Kafka, Spark)
  • Knowledge of and experience with GeoServer, Geospatial data and technologies
  • Leverage Atlassian tool suites like JIRA and Confluence to track activities.

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$74,600-$156,700
