SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION:

Knowledgeable engineer with understanding of Optical and Telecoms fundamentals, Semiconductor device principles and practical optical/electronic/RF measurement and experience of general laboratory measurement methods, manufacturing test data analysis and interpretation is required to join the transmission components R&D DevEng team.

The team charter is “Transition product from design state to manufacturing at scale in a defect free manner to meet “Schedule/ Yield/ Quality/ Cost” targets”.

You will be part of this hard-working and diverse team that is responsible for the development and improvement of the manufacturing processes and tests used to produce our most highly integrated telecom products. You will help develop the next generation of opto-electronic and photonic components at optical sub-assembly (OSA) level such as high-performance transmitter and receiver devices for use in optical communication systems. This gives you an excellent opportunity to learn about the broad range of disciplines involved in our product development process (PDP).

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL (Key Responsibilities but not limited to):

  • Work with chip and OSA design teams to understand key factors that affect the manufacturing process and tests, yield and performance, and use tools and techniques to develop an experimental plan to study them.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (e.g., design teams, OSA labs, process teams, test teams) to define product success metrics (NPI scorecard) and to drive prototype build and test.
  • Identify and manage product E2E (Chip-Ship) specification gaps (e.g., spec correlation and alignment, lessons learnt) and support product spec verification activities.
  • Work closely with NPI and operation teams for manufacturing development to start volume production and ensure manufacturing line meets Yield/Test-time/Quality success metrics at launch (capacity analysis and planning, product issues investigations and yield improvement, Debug trees, test time reduction).
  • Analyze and interpret data to show the trend of the impact of key parameters, understand the failure mechanisms and generate product yield report in a timely manner.
  • Bridge all technical issues at any level (Design, NPI, Operation) to insure full transfer to the factory.
  • Engage with active participation at PDP development phases (Planning-Design-Qualification-Limited Production), deliver PDRL deliverables for various Gates.
  • You are encouraged to work cross-functionally to come up with creative ideas for new products, processes, components.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS:

An undergraduate/Bachelor degree or equivalent in Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering, Physics (Optics/Photonics), RF/Optical Engineering, Communications, or equivalent technical discipline and have an interest in the optical communications field.

Master’s and PhD students looking for Industrial Placement opportunities are welcome to apply.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:

Essential:

  • Willingness to learn, develop your skills and expand your knowledge
  • Engineering background with sound understanding of the fundamentals of optical/electronic/photonic/RF components and their applications
  • Practical experience of measurement techniques, data correlation and results analysis
  • Ability to perform basic statistical analysis using JMP/Excel or other tools
  • Demonstrate that you can work within a team environment

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of optical component performance and characterization
  • Experience on high speed transmission line and interconnection
  • Experience on Manufacturing and/or Industrial engineering
  • Experience with project management skills; able to prioritize and deliver against a schedule, while interacting with distributed R&D teams

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:

The candidate will have to demonstrate that they are capable working within an international team environment.   must be self-motivated and have proven practical experience in completing given tasks and demonstrate attention to details. Their technical background and hands-on skills will enable them to integrate quickly into an existing development team. The candidate must demonstrate strong inter-personal communication skills.
