Job Title: Co-op, Mechanical Engineering: Equipment Design
Department: Global Equipment Engineering

Position Overview:
The Global Manufacturing Engineering team is focused on supporting Insulet’s manufacturing operations in our new state-of-the-art high-speed automated manufacturing facility in Acton, MA. This candidate will work closely with the engineering team to support clean sheet design activities, continuous improvement efforts, equipment validation, process improvement, and third-party automation efforts. This position will work regularly with cross-functional teams to solve urgent business-related problems. Typical tasks include hands-on lab testing, measurement, CAD design & detailing, hands on assembly, data analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and execution of projects on assembly floor. The ideal candidate has experience and interest in mechanical design, automation, lab testing and metrology. Hands on approach is strongly encouraged.

Responsibilities:
Design high speed assembly equipment for the production of Insulet’s insulin Pods.
Develop cost effective and efficient engineered manufacturing solutions using computer modeling to run appropriate analyses.
Test, debug, and qualify completed equipment or assemblies to the required specifications and performance criteria at potentially both at Insulet and some local strategic partners.
Design and development process / manufacturing equipment for high volume, high speed, high precision assembly operation and complex industrial systems
Develop innovative and cost-effective solutions for manufacturing high volume medical goods products
Follow all Insulet’s policies and procedures
Support machine build and debug at local suppliers
Design and prototype manufacturing aids using SolidWorks, 3D printer, etc.

Education and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:
Enrolled as a BS candidate in Mechanical Engineering or similar field

Preferred Skills and Competencies:
CAD: Solidworks preferred, Pro/Engineer (Creo) a plus
Data Analysis: Minitab, JMP, Excel
Proficient in Microsoft Office

Physical Requirements (if applicable):
Must be able to lift 20 pounds
Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods of time
Possible travel required to automation supplier in Canada

Additional Information:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $23.00 - $31.25. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
