About the Opportunity: 

Payroll and Benefits Specialist | $85-110k

David Zwirner seeks a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to support the HR and Finance team. This role reports to the Director of HR with a dotted line to the Global Controller. This position will be hybrid Monday-Friday, 10am to 6pm (on site 2-3 days/week). The Compensation and Benefits Manager will be responsible for overseeing and executing on compensation and benefits processes.

What you’ll do: 

  • Processing of biweekly payroll for all US employees; multiple entities; time and attendance management; make recommendations for policies and procedures; ensure compliance with state and federal labor and wage and hour law.
  • Management of 1099 independent contractor/freelancer accounts payable.
  • Benefit enrollment and employee benefit file feed maintenance; census oversight; ERC administration.
  • 401k plan administration; payroll deduction and contribution processing; employer contribution administration.
  • Process and monitor garnishment orders, and any issues that impact payroll specifications, including addressing tax notices for each entity.
  • Maintain accurate personnel information and payroll records in the system.
  • Handle employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
  • Oversee and manage COLA/bonus/commission special payroll runs and cycles.
  • Review and handle distribution of annual W-2/1099/1095-C tax documentation.
  • Liaise with CFO on compensation modeling; support the finance team on global HR reporting needs and updates.
  • HRIS management and additional system and reporting functionalities; ensure accuracy and integrity of information.
  • Complete regular reporting for employee benefits:  ACA, 1099, 401(k), Workers Comp audits, Unemployment, NDT Testing, 401k Audits.
  • Vendor and benefit carrier data management.
  • Benefit-cost analysis and compliance; conduct research, analyze plan options, conduct cost analysis, and make recommendations to the Director of HR.
  • Compensation grading and pay equity analysis for new and existing employees.

What we would like you to have:

  • BA in Accounting or HR, or a related field required
  • 5+ years related work experience in an HR or Finance team 
  • Strong HR analytics experience
  • Experience with financial/compensation modeling
  • Confidentiality and sensitivity; HIPAA compliance 
  • Strong HRIS experience (Paylocity, ADP or similar)
  • An interest and/or experience in the art industry
  • Great attention to detail
  • Ability to oversee multiple ongoing tasks and projects concurrently and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be comfortable interacting with members of the company at all levels
  • Ability to effectively and gracefully solve or identify problems as they arise
  • Strong knowledge of tax and wage laws and common fiscal procedures is necessary. 
  • Be supportive of a collaborative work environment.
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills.
