What is the Institutional Portfolio Accounting group responsible for?

  • The team is responsible for a variety of investment accounting functions such as recording cash-related transactions in the SimCorp Dimension application, reconciling cash and security positions to various custodian records, and ensuring the portfolios are in good order for portfolio managers and for month-end client reporting#MID_SENIOR_LEVEL

What is the Supervisor – Investment Accounting responsible for?

  • Supervises a team of professional employees to achieve objectives and requirements of own team and/or workgroup. Responsible for setting priorities for the team to ensure task completion and monitors compliance with procedures, policies, and standards.  Engages team, develops direct reports and advocates for staff development needs. Provides task- or procedure-specific expertise.  Partners with internal and external clients and/or service providers on business challenges and solutions.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Supervisor – Investment Accounting?

Performance standards (25% - 35% percentage of time):

  • Ensure the work is completed timely, accurately and according to procedures by the team.

  • Provide expertise and guidance to staff in resolving complex problems/issues to ensure timely completion of critical tasks and daily assigned.

  • Maintain, recommend and implement efficient departmental processes and ensure departmental procedures are kept current and an effective control environment is maintained.

  • Manage individual and team performance.

  • Ensure uninterrupted service to internal clients.  Ensure regular feedback is provided to clients on processing levels.

  • Ensure periodic audit reporting is completed in accordance with audit requirements.

  • Work with external and internal auditors to ensure issues are resolved within the funds.

  • Recruit and facilitate training to staff as necessary.

Productivity and efficiency (25% - 35% percentage of time):

  • Monitor staff performance measurements and provide timely feedback to both staff and management.

  • Staff and workflow planning to ensure proper coverage of daily work for team.

  • Ensure all management reporting is complete, timely and effective given any process or data changes.

  • Identify training needs and provide adequate training for the staff. Conduct and facilitate training as required. Ensure cross trainings within the team members and ensure backups for all the tasks within the team.

  • Monitor and conduct staff appraisals and ensure timely feedback is provided to the staff.

  • Provide leadership, expertise and technical support in the completion of assigned departmental projects.

Problem solving (15% - 25% percentage of time):

  • Ensure timely resolution of issues while taking into consideration impact of issues to other department and sites and escalate to Manager, as necessary.

  • Investigate complex issues and determine appropriate course of action by partnering with required departments. 

  • Escalate items to manager as required.

Innovation and creativity (5% - 15% percentage of time):

  • Represent department on company-wide initiatives or while dealing with external clients.

  • Utilize best practices in evaluating new procedures and processes, taking impact to other departments and sites.

  • Analyze and improve departmental workflows, policies and procedures in accordance with global best practices.

Communication (5% - 15% percentage of time):

  • Identify and communicate workflow and training deficiencies and develop resulting action plans, etc.

  • Maintain a regular communication medium with business partners to discuss service levels and trends identified.

  • Establish and maintain quality standards for external and internal verbal/written communication.

  • Provides sign off on items that are with in supervisor purview as per department internal controls.

Others (5% - 10% percentage of time):

  • Complete tasks, activities assigned/delegated by Manager.

  • Represent department in assigned projects and lead projects as required.

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Fund Accounting, Reconciliation or Mutual Fund Industry.

  • Equivalent of 2+ years of management experience either directly managing employees or acting as a senior team member and resource leader in a team management setting.

  • Solid working knowledge of business management skills.

  • Good knowledge of MS Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong leadership, analytical and organization skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience with the SimCorp Dimension Accounting System and Reconciliation Manager module would be viewed favorably.
