Pre-Analytics Processing Technician II

With a diverse array of test offerings within a centralized location, our laboratories offer a full suite of services without sacrificing turnaround time or compromising specimen integrity. Centralized data, readily accessible support, and collaboration between the laboratory and ordering provider reduce the time to a patient’s diagnosis and treatment. 

A caregiver in this position works weekends and 1 day/night from 7:00am – 3:30pm.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Accession and manually process laboratory specimens.  

  • Receive and accession specimens into the LIS and prepare specimens for analysis.  

  • Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting and routine maintenance).  

  • Assume compliance with basic regulations (temperature monitoring).  

  • Perform quality assurance activities (pending log audit).  

  • Retrieve, sort, track, verify and deliver specimens.  

  • Use tracking software/devices and maintain and communicate documentation.  

  • Comply with safety SOP & regulations. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High school diploma or GED. 

  • One year of lab experience. 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Associate's degree in science. This may substitute one year of required experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity to perform specimen handling techniques and to take measurements
  • May require extended periods of standing, walking and/or sitting.
  • Handles and transports bio hazardous materials.
  • Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.
  • Must have normal or corrected vision.
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as defined in the exposure control plan.
