What you'll do

You’re joining a team that’s passionate about the customer vision and delivering a seamless servicing experience for our customers. Aligned to our ‘Start and Manage my banking relationship’ customer goals, you’ll be working with your colleagues to deliver the technology strategic roadmap, while ensuring the right balance between our business goals and building future technology, at the right cost.

You’ll also be:

  • Applying Agile methods to the development of software on the backlog
  • Developing resilient and long-lived software and acting flexibly to cope with future needs
  • Delivering intentional architecture and formulating emergent design through innovative ideas, experimentation and prototyping
  • Designing and developing software with a focus on the automation of build, test and deployment activities, using executable patterns
  • Providing technical expertise and input to establish the risk tolerance of products and services

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for someone with strong knowledge of reliability systems thinking and experience of software engineering. You’ll need experience of using a data driven and scientific approach to fact finding. We’ll also look for financial services knowledge, the ability to identify wider business impact, risk and opportunity, and make connections across key outputs and processes.

You'll also need:

  • A strong background in leading software development teams in a matrix structure, introducing and executing technical strategies
  • Proficiency in building enterprise applications and UIs using Java and React
  • Strong expertise in Spring Boot microservices
  • Skilled in testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, and Cucumber
  • Experience in automating CI/CD pipelines with tools like TeamCity, GitLab CI, and GitHub Actions
  • Knowledge of building streaming applications using Apache Kafka
  • Familiarity with advanced SQL in Oracle and PostgreSQL
