We’re currently looking for a Battery Product Development Engineer Intern to join our team in Nissan Tech Center North America (NTCNA) in Farmington Hills, MI.

A Day in the Life:   

  • Creating and documenting 3D models for battery energy storage system.

  • Thermal simulations of batteries while under testing/operation including system level heating-current density analysis, electrical analysis tolerances, etc.

  • Keen understanding of the scope of test and safety requirements to perform DFMEA.

  • Agility to design and develop new concepts as required for business and certifications.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of design procedures, results, standards and analysis.

  • Provide engineering insights, troubleshoot performance issues and perform root-cause analysis.

Who We’re Looking for: 

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Masters or PhD battery related program in Energy, Battery, Electrical, Materials or Mechanical engineering or in similar fields.

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

  • Knowledge of battery energy storage system certification requirements, 3D-2D CAD, GD&T and thermal simulations is a must.

  • Research-oriented mindset with interest in state-of-the-art battery technologies, scientific literature and industry updates. Familiarity and experience with handling batteries (modules), 3D printing, and dielectric material selection is required.

  • 1+ years of experience with using CFD simulation software like Solidworks/ANSYS/etc for thermal analysis.

  • Must be able to follow safety protocols and wear safety PPE as required for the lab.

  • Ability to perform work onsite in Farmington Hills, MI
