Applied Materials is looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst who possesses excellent technical skills to join the dynamic and high-performing Workforce Strategy & Intelligence (WSI) team. The individual will act as an expert consultant in data and business intelligence solutions, with a specific focus on workforce strategy and talent intelligence contributing to the enhancement of the HR function.

The individual will be responsible for creating interactive dashboards and analytical solutions in the talent field that will be utilized by Senior Leadership, HR Business Partners, HR Functions. The responsibilities involve extracting, manipulating, and loading data on platforms like Hadoop, Databricks, etc. and designing and developing advanced visualization dashboards using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, etc. By utilizing talent data to inform and enhance decision-making, the individual will play a crucial role in helping HR and the business achieve their outcomes. This role requires a strong passion for data mining and business intelligence solutions.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in SQL to extract, manipulate and analyze data from various platforms.
  • Expertise in designing and developing analytical/dashboarding solutions in Relational & OLAP environments.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience working on business intelligence tools like Tableau, Power BI, etc. to create interactive reports and dashboards.
  • Well-versed with Tableau features like creating extracts, LOD, row-level security, joins, data blending, permissions, and advanced capabilities.
  • Subject matter expert on data analytics and visualizations and delivering intuitive and rich user experience.
  • Good knowledge and application of UX and visualization best practices in the field of data analytics
  • Knowledge and exposure to data warehousing concepts like data modeling, ETL, and OLAP.
  • Experience with big data systems such HDFS, Hive, Impala, Spark on Cloudera Hadoop, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with Python, PySpark, Spark SQL on Databricks is a plus.
  • Understanding of HR processes and associated data models/data flows is a plus.
  • Data-driven mindset with ability to plan the course of action based on the data.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Experience in data analysis using statistical techniques and tools to generate key insights.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a global fast-paced environment to manage competing priorities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders for business requirements, translate them into prototypes and develop plans for most appropriate interactive reporting and analytical solutions.
  • Develop queries or programs to extract, transform and load data on big data platforms.
  • Design and develop advanced business intelligence solutions such as reports, dashboards, and applications with effective visualizations in OLAP environments.
  • Plan and implement the infrastructure framework required to enable the technologies.
  • Merge new data from structured, unstructured data sources with existing dimension, fact, and summary tables to create new KPIs.
  • Work with others on the development of data warehouses and other data sources.
  • Conduct thorough data validation and quality checks to ensure data accuracy.
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all business intelligence reports and dashboards.
  • Analyze data and provide recommendations to improve process efficiencies.
  • Manage ongoing enhancements and support of existing applications.
  • Continuously learn, improvise, and suggest other visualization framework/tools.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Sciences, Business Analytics or related field
  • 3+ Years of Relevant Experience as a Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Visualization Expert (Tableau, Power BI), or similar role.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Good knowledge of HR Processes and experience in People Analytics is a plus.
