Are you seeking your next opportunity for growth? Do you possess advanced technical expertise and professional knowledge in safety? Our Fort McMurray Base Plant is in search of a qualified and highly motivated Safety Advisor to become a part of our team.

In this multifaceted position, you will serve as a technical consultant, assist in safety initiatives, and offer functional leadership while promoting operational excellence in personal safety.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5 or more years experience as a safety advisor within the oil sands, experience with fixed plants is preferred

  • Occupational Health and Safety training and/or certifications (such as OH&S, NCSO, CHSEP, CRSP, etc.)

  • Ability to build key relationships with cross-functional, internal, and external stakeholders

  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day support for health, and safety (H&S) on-site safety programs, procedures, safe work practices, campaigns, etc.

  • Participate in hazard and control inventory and risk register population and management for H&S hazards, aspects, impacts and risks

  • Interpret and apply H&S regulations that govern the activities, products, and services of the facility to assist leaders in reflecting due diligence in decision making

  • Anticipate, identify, evaluate, and contribute to both proactive and reactive controls to mitigate risk

  • Devise practical and economical solutions to a broad range of health and safety challenges

  • Develop or enhance and then implement standardized processes and systems

  • Establish priorities and performance targets

  • Coach and mentor front-line leaders in areas of core H&S responsibility and competency support

  • Conduct investigations into incidents and suggesting measures to avert future occurrences

  • Be knowledgeable in Human and Organization Performance (HOP) principles and application

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out of Base Plant in Fort McMurray, Alberta

  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
