Nature and Scope:

  • The Senior Product Engineer is responsible to contribute to the product team through product design, testing, data analysis, and project management.  The Engineer will also support the manufacturing of the product, representing the design team through initiating and executing design changes.  All of these tasks also require strong communication skills and the ability to clearly present information to engineering teammates, engineering managers, product management, and business leaders. 

  • This position is a part of a global chiller engineering team. The engineer will work under the product engineering manager to assist design and development of new products and support production of existing products globally.   The engineer will be expected to lead and participate in various engineering activities to resolve factory and field technical issues.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintains understanding of theories, concepts, technical principles and processes related to mechanical and electrical aspects of chillers

  • Has proficiency in mechanical design and be able to conceptualize and implement design ideas into the product

  • Works closely with the design and drafting group in generating chiller layout concepts and system configurations  

  • Generates engineering/design documentation and compiles technical documents for use within the company

  • Prepares and executes test programs to verify performance and reliability of electrical and mechanical components and systems

  • Reviews and analyzes test data and provides input for design and troubleshooting

  • Applies regulatory codes such as UL, CE, PED and ASME in product design

  • Possesses knowledge of manufacturing processes and applies the philosophy of designing to standard manufacturing process

  • Reports on the status of the projects

  • Strives for continuous improvement and teamwork in a global product development environment

  • Occasional domestic and international travel (Approximately 10%)

Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering (ABET accredited) or related science or equivalent

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a related field

  • Experience in a design and product development environment

  • Basic understanding of fundamental business knowledge

  • Knowledge/experience in electrical engineering (electric  motor, motor control, electrical wiring ) would be a plus

  • Strong design background and knowledge/experience in refrigeration system and components (compressors, heat exchangers) would be a plus
