Under the direction the Chief Program Officer, the Director of Training leads the YAI Knowledge department and in collaboration with senior leadership, compliance and quality, program and other staff, ensures alignment of training department objectives and initiatives with the strategic goals of the organization. Develops training curriculum, content and modules and coordinates planning and deployment across YAI Network to facilitate access to mandatory and developmental trainings for all YAI staff. Provides oversight and leadership to the YAI Knowledge staff and recommends education for new and changing initiatives or needs. Leads identification, development and facilitation of revenue generating training opportunities for external audiences and organizations.  Serves as a resource for the agency regarding training needs and delivery methods, including trends and best practices.

Key/Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Strategic alignment of training department objectives to support the strategic objectives of the network.
  • Identifies and develops oversight of required training for agency staff and affiliate organizations.
  • Develops curriculum, organizes and facilitates leadership development programs to promote growth and staff retention within the organization.
    • Identifies and develops oversight of revenue generating external training opportunities.
    • Identifies marketing and branding opportunities as they relate to external training.
    • Develops strategies and procedures that contribute to building the skills and knowledge of staff across all departments and affiliate organizations within the network.
    • Works with agency leadership to develop strategies for the coordination and deployment of agency wide training initiatives.
    • Develops and oversees department budget; manages diversified department grants.
  • Assesses organization-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions for employees.
  • Defines operating objectives and training plans to meet short- and long-term goals and actively searches, creatively designs, and implements effective methods to educate and enhance performance.
  • Collaborates with functional areas and organizational leaders to assess ongoing and future training and developmental needs as well as effectiveness of established programs.
  • Develops a program delivery schedule that provides training as needed and in locations that work for the participants.
  • Approves new training techniques and suggests enhancements to existing training programs.
  • Oversees and establishes relationships with vendors to provide additional outside training programs.
  • Instructional Design - Develops programs, materials and job aids designed to meet identified instructional/ informational needs, including training for new staff and refresher training for experienced staff in departments having significant regulatory compliance responsibilities, as well as training that is required to meet the operational needs of the organization.
  • Produces cost-effective classroom based and e-learning training programs within budgeted resources.
  • Employs a system approach to development and evaluation of training programs and materials as follows:
    • Prepares instructional objectives stated in measurable terms.
    • Instructional Delivery - Present training programs; disseminate materials and instructional aids.
  • Will deliver a blend of traditional classroom and e-learning training programs.
  • Will act as a coach and facilitator to learner groups and individuals in accordance with training programs' strategies and objectives.
  • Be a resource to and serve as an expert for all internal and external stakeholders in providing innovative and effective learning and development solutions.
  • Provides training for external customers.
  • Conducts training needs assessments to identify and develop curriculum for both internal and external audiences.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, guidance, and mentorship for members of the training department.
  • Evaluates employee performance of members of the training department.
  • Develops and reviews curriculum and organizes training programs for new hires and veteran staff.
  • Oversees the maintenance of the agency’s learning management system.
  • Researches new regulations and procedures in the field of I/DD to ensure training is current and relevant.
  • Collaborates with compliance, quality and program leadership to develop policy and procedure for states beyond NY.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • University/College degree
  • 5+ years working in the I/DD field
  • 5+ years training experience
  • Management or leadership experience in the I/DD field
  • Proficient in Workday, Learning Management Systems, MS Office and Salesforce
  • Experience in Project Management

Compensation

$120,000 - $140,000 per year, depending on skills, qualifications and experience
