Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range

$200,500.00 - $323,300.00

What Is the Opportunity?

As a Vice President, Data & Insights, you will lead teams that span across multiple data and/or analytic functions that develop analytic solutions to complex problems. In this role you will provide thought leadership to peers, data & analytic leaders, and senior business partners across the organization to develop and implement strategic plans to align with Travelers goals and objectives.

You will be accountable for developing analytic strategies that support business and operational plans for your supported business line and effectively manage resources and capabilities across multiple analytic disciplines for your team(s).

What Will You Do?

  • Develop strategic vision for International business, set the tone and direction by clearly articulating vision, and translating into realistic goals while continuing to monitor the external environment and vendor solutions that best align to the business strategy.
  • Establish strategic alignment and partnerships with the business, technology, and functional divisions to identify needs to drive impact and ensure teams are fully leveraging Travelers’ data assets and capabilities.
  • Oversee the implementation of operational plans across areas of accountability.
  • Oversee and manage teams and leaders operating across multiple complex domains to ensure the successful execution of strategies.
  • Anticipate potential issues and influence senior executives to adopt different points of view. Recognize, initiate, and manage change that impacts the work group/department.
  • Oversee department recruiting, training, and talent assessment efforts; guide team to advance their subject matter expertise and to identify future leaders to meet Travelers’ business objectives.
  • Responsible for the management of quality controls and process improvements within areas of accountability.
  • Accountable for overseeing initiatives and projects of business, ensuring completion according to defined best practices.
  • Recognize, initiate and manage change that impacts the work group/department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM related field, or master’s degree with a concentration in a technical or analytical field.
  • Fifteen plus years’ experience in related work plus five years’ experience managing teams.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to problem-solve, think critically, and operate strategically across the company.
  • Forward thinker with the ability to bring industry best practices and regulatory knowledge to the table in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and planning effective strategies, with the ability to lead a team to implement those strategies and strategically align resources to accomplish key objectives.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and influencing skills with the ability to present complex information to senior leadership and functional partners in relevant business terms.
  • Ability to drive and set broad enterprise-wide data and analytic strategies.
  • Broad understanding of the latest Data, Analytics, and Technology trends and their impact on business strategies and operations with the ability to articulate and communicate the value of data and analytics.

What is a Must Have?

  • Bachelor’s degree or ten years equivalent experience in a data and analytic discipline.
