About the Role
SVHM are currently engaged in the Timely Emergency Care Collaborative (TEC2), an 18-month, state-wide project involving 11 health services under the auspices of the Victorian Department of Health and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. The goal of TEC2 is to improve care of the older person by identifying barriers to care across the health service and implementing effective countermeasures. This requires a high level of coordination of effort and rigorous application of improvement science. This will include preparation and presentation of monthly Steering Committee papers, assisting with the planning and implementation of new improvement initiatives, tracking and managing high-level project risks, timelines, deliverables and budget, liaising effectively with Executive Sponsors to secure ongoing support, participating in all external TECC commitments with DoH, IHI and other Health Services. The position would work alongside permanent members of the improvement team.

Your Contribution

  • Formal training in quality management, project management, process improvement or equivalent
  • Significant demonstrated experience in process/continuous improvement
  • Significant demonstrated experience in project management
  • Significant demonstrated experience in improvement coaching and training
  • Advanced qualitative and quantitative analysis skills including Run Charts and Statistical Process Control Charts in Excel or other
  • Proficiency with root cause analysis tools such as process mapping, fishbone and 5 Why
  • Proficiency in Office 365 including SharePoint, Teams, Planner, Forms, Outlook, PowerBI, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
  • Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in healthcare, improvement, business or analytics.
  • Clinical experience in care of the older person such as but not limited to the Emergency Department, General Medicine, Geriatric Medicine or Complex Care/Health Independence Programs.

About Continuous Improvement

The Continuous Improvement Department is located at the main campus of St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne in Fitzroy. It reports to the Chief Operating Officer alongside the Decision Support Team via the General Manager Continuous Improvement and Decision Support. We provide specialist improvement capability to the organisation to lead and drive improvement. We share a non-clinical space with other support departments such as Quality and Patient Safety, Infection Prevention and Control, Decision Support Unit and Finance. We regularly visit clinical spaces across all campuses and are setup to work in a mobile fashion as the needs of the organisation require. You may be required to work from other campuses at times including Aged Care, Community and Correctional Health sites across Melbourne. Fleet cars are available as required if you do not have your own transport. Remote working is supported on days where an on-site presence is not required to progress work.
