Transaction Banking Solutions provide tailored working capital solutions across payables, receivables and treasury management for large corporate, government and institutional clients. We support our transaction banking clients to innovate and revolutionise the way they can interact with their customers and to deliver working capital and operational efficiencies.

You will be accountable for the execution of the Transaction Banking business development strategy for the Institutional Bank and Markets segment. You will work with customers and stakeholders of all levels of seniority across the Group as you contribute to the overall success of the Transaction Banking Solutions business through effective client management and strategic sales execution. This role will report into Executive Director, Business Development and be part of a talented team of transaction banking specialists located across Australia.

Do work that matters:

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Origination of new-to-bank transaction banking mandates and retention of strategic Government clients
  • Develop and maintain client relationships with treasury and state/federal government agencies to gain a deep understanding of their payments and cash management needs
  • Lead a deal team to respond to transaction banking tenders and proposal requests
  • Work with Relationship coverage teams to develop and maintain client plans for key targets to identify opportunities and implement government engagement strategies
  • Have a deep understanding of government’s payments and cash management needs to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborate with product management and operation teams to ensure effective delivery of transaction banking solutions  
  • Analyse, structure and negotiate deal opportunities to ensure optimal outcomes are achieved for government and Transaction Banking Solutions
  • Sound understanding of information technology concepts including Enterprise Resource Planning systems, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and Software as a Service (SaaS).  
  • Support client thought leadership initiatives to position CBA as a trusted advisor
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory developments, and market changes to inform business decisions  
  • Identify and take accountability for delivering continuous improvement opportunities across the team and stakeholders 
  • Actively contribute to the team to ensure a positive team culture and support a safe and diverse workplace for all team members and customers 

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

  • Transaction banking government experience at a major domestic bank  
  • Business development or solution consulting experience  
  • Self-starter with results-oriented mindset with a track record of achieving revenue targets 
  • Track record of building and leveraging effective relationships across an organisation to deliver against business and financial objectives
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration and negotiation skills and ability to build a strong rapport with clients and work colleagues 
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with financial and/or data modelling, or process engineering desirable 
  • Knowledge of transaction banking products and services including payments, cash management and merchant solutions desirable 
  • Tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, business administration or a related field (or experience to reflect the same)
