Position Summary

Manage and maintain the physical layer of our IT infrastructure to best practice standards ensuring reliability, resiliency, and long-term operational sustainability. Operate and support the physical tape backup. Collaborate with users and technical teams to support incident resolution, systems monitoring, and problem analysis.

This is a union represented position.  The terms and conditions of employment for this position are currently being negotiated with the union.  The terms and conditions that are initially offered for this position may change and be different once a contract with the union is finalized.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage Data Center intake process to ensure that requestor, project, and business requirements are met. Develop bill of materials required and ensure requestor understands any lead time issues. Complete or oversee installation to ensure compliance with all Data Center Standards to include cable management of all cable types. Complete and verify all as built documentation.
  • Provide asset management services for all equipment / material destined for the Data Centers. Manage the physical lifecycle of all electronic data storage devices from intake to destruction. Ensure that all ESS and CIP requirements are met in the process.
  • Provide hands and feet support for all incident tickets and vendor required data center escorts. Work all tickets as they are added to the queue. Replace hardware components as needed and requested.
  • Manage the physical tape backup and offsite process. Operate tape libraries to add or remove tapes from the system. Coordinate with off-site provider for the pickup, return, and audit of tape status.
  • Operate Payroll and IBM Printers to ensure appropriate quality output is produced. Breakdown reports to ensure all output is delivered to the correct user the next business day. Meet all payroll requirements for documentation, security, and confidentiality
  • All shift status information and metrics are included in our OneNote shift turnovers. All data center intake status information is recorded in the ITEP Planning section of the turnover. All metrics are captured daily in the appropriate locations.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field or equivalent experience preferred.
  • At least one year of related experience.
  • Demonstrated strong business and technical acumen.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and effectively apply learning.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $28.20 to $45.10 per hour
