About Lakewood Regional Support

Our regional support center provides resources to our hotels for multiple areas including Human Resources, Engineering, Purchasing, Accounting, Security, Group Reservations, Guest Contact Center, Information Technology, Laundry and Communications.

The Human Resources Compliance Specialist ensures our HR practices comply with regulations and company policies. In this role, you will be responsible for managing documentation, overseeing the orientation process, handling I-9 and work authorization processing, and conducting various audits to ensure compliance. This role also involves tracking overdue training, auditing job roles and pay rates, and auditing our HRIS system to uphold the integrity of our data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain and organize compliance-related documentation, including employee records, training logs, and policy updates.
  • Orientation Coordination: Participate in the orientation process for new hires, ensuring they receive necessary information about company policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • I-9 Processing: Oversee and manage the I-9 employment eligibility verification process. Ensure timely and accurate completion of I-9 forms and maintain proper documentation in accordance with federal regulations.
  • Track and Audit Expiring Work Authorizations: Monitor and manage work authorizations approaching expiration. Ensure timely renewals and compliance from employees to ensure they are legally eligible to work in the U.S. This includes managing documentation for various work visas and permits.
  • J-1 Visa Processing: Assist in the administration of J-1 visa processes, including verifying documentation, ensuring compliance with program requirements, and maintaining records.
  • Minors Auditing: Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with child labor laws and regulations. Verify that employment of minors is in accordance with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Tip Auditing: Oversee and audit tip reporting and distribution processes to ensure compliance with relevant wage and hour laws and internal policies.
  • Identify Overdue Training: Track and identify overdue training requirements for employees. Notify relevant parties and assist in scheduling and completing necessary training sessions.
  • Weekly Audits: Perform weekly audits of HR processes and records to ensure ongoing compliance with policies, regulations, and best practices. Report findings and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
  • Audit HRIS Data: Regularly audit the HRIS system to uphold the integrity of our data.
  • Audit Additional Jobs and Pay Rates: Review and audit additional job roles and pay rates to ensure they align with company policies and external regulations. Verify that job classifications and compensation are accurate and compliant.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Conduct routine checks to ensure that HR practices are in line with established policies and legal requirements.
  • Reporting: Prepare and assist in generating compliance reports for HR management, highlighting any potential issues or areas for improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in HR, with working knowledge of employment related compliance and regulations.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of employment regulations and operational effectiveness of said regulations.
    • Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Advanced working knowledge of Excel to include VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables for data management analysis.
    • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
    • The Aptitude to learn HR related software.
    • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • The ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
