Caterpillar Inc. seeks Electronic Component Engineering Specialist at its facility located at Building AC - 2427 E Engine Drive, Chillicothe, IL 61523. Develop high-quality electronic/electrical component product lines for engine and machine systems that meet complex requirements and low-cost producer (LCP) targets. Partner with suppliers to deliver production components and help the systems engineers integrate successfully into various applications. Meet NPI and NTI milestones for each program by delivering quality components/platforms on time that meet agreed upon features for each milestone. Key metrics include completion of CV, DV, PV and PPAP validation phases, post-production component and application support, and cost reduction. Develop, improve, and troubleshoot electronic/electrical hardware used in an array of engine and machine systems. Develop product requirements, analysis and simulation, electronic component selection, schematic/layout development, and platform verification and validation. Work closely with Engine and Machine System/Subsystem team members to understand the application requirements and performance needs. Focus on quality through simulation, analysis, verification, and validation testing at the component level, subsystem, and system level. Expected to provide technical leadership and training to new staff members. Keep up with industry trends and new technology breakthroughs is essential and requires continuous learning through self/internet study. REQS: This position requires a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and 7 years of experience in embedded electronic hardware development or related occupation. Alternatively, employer will also accept, master’s degree, or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience in embedded electronic hardware development or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Analog and digital hardware design and/or product application developing solutions; (2) Digital logic schematic design, embedded system microcontrollers, PCB layout design; (3) Wireless hardware development and integration (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth technology); (4) Electronic simulation, validation, design, specification development; and (5) Experience in Electronics components environmental verification & validation testing and EMC testing.
