The Opportunity

Join Hitachi Energy as the Government Affairs Lead for Germany, where you will be the primary contact for our global function within Germany. This pivotal role involves developing and executing our Government Relations strategy across Germany. Reporting directly to the Global Head of Government Relations, you will act as an extension of the function for addressing key government and institutional stakeholders at the federal and local level.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive Government Relations strategy in Germany

  • Legislative Engagement: Work directly with legislative bodies, elected officials, and quasi-governmental agencies to establish and maintain relationships that achieve economic development objectives and legislative solutions

  • Policy and Regulatory Advocacy: Monitor, assess, pre-empt and develop approach/ solutions to address policy and regulatory initiatives impacting business and operations. This includes a focus on policy stimulus/incentives as well as protect actions such as environmental or other policies, trade and tariff related measures etc.  

  • Institutional Collaboration: Engage with key business and social institutions in Germany from an influence, advocacy, positioning and promotion perspective addressing key industry topics, building thought leadership and building brand equity

  • Stakeholder management: Develop and execute Strategic Engagement Plans with key institutions and promote Hitachi Energy’s across government, associations, and other defined entities to enhance company position

  • Special Initiatives: Collaborate with the global function to develop and execute initiatives supporting legislative priorities and growth strategies

  • Data Management: Manage periodic Government Relations update submissions and present policy updates for leadership

Your Background

  • University degree in relevant subjects or equivalent experience

  • Proven government affairs experience, ideally within a technology company or related government affairs role

  • Known to industry and key government officials

  • Extensive experience in government relations, with a deep understanding of regulatory and policy issues in the power grids and energy business

  • Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and persuade effectively

  • Deep understanding of government structures and political processes

  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the company

  • Ability to drive priorities and think strategically

  • Strong analytical abilities to assess and provide legislative and regulatory solutions
