Job Description Summary:

The Business Risk and Control Lead (“BRCL”) is responsible for supporting first line of defense operations, governance, and internal control efforts across PayPal UK Ltd (Legal Entity). The BRCL manages and executes risk processes that exist in the first line, such as risk identification, risk assessment, risk and control evaluation, management and resolution of issues and incidents, Annual Risk and Compliance Plan (“ARCP”) output, and risk reporting the legal entities. This scope of BRCL responsibilities in this role is very much centered around supporting execution of governance of PayPal’s Consumer Duty Programme and managing specific forums and committees within the PPUK governance structure to ensure customer outcome focus through active engagement with Product, Pricing and Customer facing teams.

Job Description:

You will be responsible for ensuring PPUK product and customer outcome governance commitments are met by ensuring collaboration with management and other functional teams in PPUK and across the global organization to proactively:

  • Perform and refresh risk assessment including risk identification, documentation, rating & control evaluation.
  • Create and maintain risk and control inventories including Capabilities, Products, Processes, Risks, and Controls applicable to the legal entity. 
  • Support the annual control testing program and to provide legal entity oversight of control efficacy. 
  • Drive execution of issue, incident, complaint, and ARCP remediation.
  • Accountable for ensuring adequate Business Continuity Plans are in place and tested in accordance with policy.
  • Identify product changes with associated control impacts and ensure appropriate implementation through the Product Development Lifecycle 
  • Maintenance of Governance, Risk, Compliance (GRC) tool data for areas of responsibility 
  • Review and derive insights from key conduct risk metrics for their business area, interpreting the data provided through dashboards and reporting (such as reg exams, complaints, incidents, etc.) from centralized teams. 
  • Provide assertions on risk exposure and articulate and present escalated risks to management. 
  • Support PPUK related regulatory and internal audit inspections
  • Facilitate and coordinate Governance Forums particularly those supporting the Consumer Duty Programme and provide management updates and reporting to the PPUK Operations and Outsourcing Committee, Risk and Compliance Committee, PPUK Executive Committee (ExCo) and UK Board.
