Summary :

The Supervisor, Patient Access oversees the day-to-day operations of the registration units. Plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates activities related to registration in collaboration with the manager of patient access. Is responsible for effective department operations ensuring requirements for quality, service, and value are met. Serves as a proactive catalyst for operational change and is instrumental in monitoring the quality and productivity of the department. Is responsible for all aspects of team member management, and for creating a professional practice environment that focuses on all customers.

Job Description:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Is knowledgeable of registration policies and best practices, state and federal laws, and third party payer requirements associated with patient access activities. Holds the team accountable for adherence to them.

  • Assists in the development of and maintains general knowledge of revenue cycle functions.

  • Engages in activities that support people management including payroll, employee performance reviews, and resource scheduling.

  • Promotes and strengthens employee engagement.

  • Participates in process improvement, patient satisfaction, and workplace safety initiatives.

  • Develops and maintains interpersonal relationships with team members and customers.

  • Serves as back up to the manager, patient access in their absence or at their direction.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree in a related field

  • Three years of experience in registration, insurance, or patient billing

  • Three years of leadership experience including leading work teams and/or projects

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance

  • Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Normally works in climate controlled office environment

  • Frequent sitting and standing with movement throughout work space

  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock

  • Occasional high noise level in work environment

  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents

  • Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients

  • Use of computers throughout the work day

  • Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers.

Hours are 2:30PM-11:00PM with on call responsibilities 3PM-3AM Mon-Fri. On call every 5th weekend.
