Manager, Scrum Master
 

In this role you will lead a team of scrum masters responsible for ensuring that scrum principles and processes are understood and streamlined across the organization to increase effectiveness and maximize value of the scrum process. Works with the scrum team to develop and communicate project goals, efficiencies around product backlog and product planning, promote agility and to increase effectiveness in scrum process. Helps facilitate communication between scrum team and internal stake holders to ensure clarity around scrum process and principles and drive effective and productive interactions.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Responsibilities include:

  • Mentor and coach Scrum Masters in Scrum practices and mindsets.
  • Ensure team milestones / goals are met.
  • Ensure scrum team activities are executed and comply with standards and methodologies.
  • Ensure planning and tracking artifacts and tools are consistent across teams.
  • Establish team metrics that promote consistency and trust.
  • Coach the teams to adopt a continuous improvement mindset and associated practices that are not resistant to change but seek opportunity for good change.
  • Drive excellence and efficiency in facilitating Scrum events including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, etc.
  • Promote team self-organization attitudes and skills, including technical skills that will empower team members.
  • Work with Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment. Collaborate across organizational boundaries, build relationships, and lead by influence to achieve broader organizational goals.
  • Handle multiple tasks concurrently and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Negotiate, persuade, and drive priorities while leaning on your org-savviness to work closely with global teams.
  • Proactively identify and communicate risks, issues, problems, and process gaps.
  • Track cross-program or cross-team dependencies and program-level issues while driving escalations when necessary.

Job Requirements

Experience: 

8 - 10 years or related experience

or Advanced degree with minimal experience

or Equivalent work experience leadership of a team of entry to mid level professionals (specialty/expertise in 1-2 technology stacks, cloud based tech/languages, etc.)

Necessary Skills:                                                                                         

  • Deep knowledge of Agile, scrum, project management methodologies and SDLC methodologies
  • Scrum techniques and artifacts such as definition of done, user stories, automated testing, or backlog refinement;
  • Software Development and planning tools such as Rally
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills in English
  • Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries, build relationships, and lead by influence to achieve broader organizational goals
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proven ability to proactively identify and communicate risks, issues, problems, and process gaps
  • Track record for negotiating, persuading, and driving priorities while leaning on your org-savviness to work closely with global teams
  • Experience communicating and presenting at various levels within an organization and proven ability to distill details into meaningful executive summary level status.

Education: 
B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or equivalent.
