Job Description:

Discover will not sponsor or transfer employment work visas for this position. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

This Senior Manager, Digital Payments Acceptance, will lead a team that is responsible for providing superior client engagement and relationship management to digital enablers and fintech partners across in-store, ecommerce, and in-app channels. These partners span the digital commerce ecosystem, and can include terminal manufacturers, ISVs, gateways, payment facilitators, digital shopping cart providers, developers, and many others. While this role has a significant focus on the in-store channel, the complex digital enabler ecosystem requires the ability to manage across all relevant partner types.

Responsible for leading business development initiatives, driving new marketing initiatives, and team portfolio oversight. Identifies and establishes relationships with enablement partners. Ensures the network acceptance is included in product innovations. Conducts contractual negotiations, implementations, development, performance, and retention of assigned technology partners within the portfolio. Develops and coaches teams to be able to identify, manage, and escalate risk, and effectively manages risk within the teams you oversee.

Responsibilities 

  • Develops and leads team acquisition, retention, awareness, and product initiatives with in-market partners. 
  • Provides timely coaching, feedback, and direction to employees to help them develop their capabilities and enable them to perform to their potential.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of technology partners, industry trends, competitive environments, and business dynamics. 
  • Influences internal product development. Establishes relationships with market innovators and advises the company's product department. 

Minimum Qualifications 

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management, or related field 
  • 8+ years of experience in payments technology, payments, credit cards, financial services, or related experience
  • In lieu of a degree, 10+ years of experience in payments technology, payments, credit card, financial services, or related experience

Preferred Qualifications 

If we had our say, we’d also look for: 

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration and Management, or related field 
  • Strong relationship management skills/experience in the payments industry
  • Prior people management experience

Compensation:

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $103,000.00 to $174,200.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
