Job Title: Patient Care Assistant (Veterinary)

Salary: £24,045 per annum

Location: Wicstun Vets, Market Weighton

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

Hours: 40 Hours per week. Monday to Friday 8:00-17:00 with 1 in 6 full weekends (time back in lieu).

We are currently looking for a friendly, enthusiastic individual who is passionate about animal care to join our Patient Care Assistant team.

The ideal candidate should be professional and confident who will strive to deliver the very best service for our animals and clients.

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Work alongside veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses to provide vital care to patients.

  • Clean, prepare and maintain patient accommodation 

  • Exercise, feed, and groom patients

  • In-house and external processing of samples for laboratory work

  • Handle and restrain patients for treatment

  • Assist with preparing patients for surgical procedures 

  • Prepare theatre - cleaning and damp dusting - cleaning, packaging, and sterilising instruments - preparing materials, instruments, and equipment

Wicstun Vet Hospital is accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and our Market Weighton Hospital is an approved training centre for Veterinary Nurses.

Our team of experienced vets provide a 24-hour emergency service for our registered clients, small holders, equine and farm yards.

Our Market Weighton branch is fully equipped with modern diagnostic facilities such as an extensive in-house laboratory, a digital x-ray suite and endoscopy which allows us to care for your pets using up to date, non-invasive techniques. We also have 3 theatres, a CT scanner, space for laparoscopic procedures, a rehabilitation suite which includes a treadmill for hydrotherapy, ICU and both cat and dog wards.
