Job Summary

The Manager of Accounting is responsible for helping the Controller manage the accounting department functions and evaluates the processes and procedures for improvement. Manages month end close process, which includes account reconciliation and the compilation and preparation of monthly consolidated financial packages. Provides management and guidance on accounting topics and various related areas, including compliance with GAAP, detailed analysis of various major income statement and balance sheet components. Helps with internal and external audits and reviews and performs other ad hoc projects as needed. Supervises and reviews the work of staff members and provides evaluations of staff.

Pay Range

Minimum $113,339 Midpoint $150,155 Maximum $186,992

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

• Required: Minimum five years of accounting/finance experience with at least three years in a management role. Three years of experience in healthcare finance. Working knowledge of corporate budgeting and analysis.

• Preferred: Over seven years of experience with a healthcare finance background, with two - three years in public accounting. Strongly prefer experience in a multi-entity company or healthcare system.

Education

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

• Preferred: MBA or CPA certification.

Training

• Required: Prior hands on financial statement preparation and review, including consolidation and eliminations. Strong knowledge in GAAP compliant financial statements preparation and reporting.

• Preferred: Application of accounting standards and interpretation of FAS literature to assist in development of new and updated footnote disclosures. Maintenance and development of effective internal controls and procedures, including Sarbanes Oxley.

Specialized Skills

• Required: Proficient skills in Microsoft Office e.g., Word, Excel, and familiarity with computerized financial systems. Strong accounting skills in fund raising and fund accounting in a not-for-profit environment. Must be detail oriented, able to meet deadlines, and work well under pressure. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills to understand and anticipate the impact and opportunities across multiple critical projects. Ability to build and establish positive relationships with stakeholders and staff at all levels. Experience presenting findings / recommendations to Executive level audiences.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Lawson and Cerner software applications. Experience in third party reimbursement, including monthly contractual analyses and third-party cost reporting requirements, State and Federal. Knowledge in joint venture accounting, debt and derivative valuation and accounting, bondholder disclosure requirements and debt covenant compliance.

Licensure

• Required: None required.

• Preferred: Certified Public Accountant
