We are looking for a Senior Applied Analytics Manager to join Nike’s Merchandising & Planning Analytics team. WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON
As a Senior Applied Analytics Manager, you will play a crucial role in extracting actionable insights from data to support the success of our Global Footwear and Apparel product portfolio. Your work will involve conducting robust analyses using sales, inventory, and customer data to identify trends and patterns. By synthesizing these insights, you will contribute to defining and measuring the success of our Product Creation strategy, while also uncovering opportunities for improvement. Your contributions will be instrumental in driving the growth of some of Nike's most important strategies.
In this role, you will:
- Conduct analyses using sales, inventory, and customer data to identify trends and patterns, and synthesize actionable insights.
- Be a consultant who provides valuable insights to support decision making and drive sustainable growth.
- Foster analytic insights with business teams and cultivate strong relationships to seamlessly integrate insights into the business.
- Maximize the use and integration of current research and customer insights to inform strategic decision-making and operational plans.
- Foster a data-driven culture by promoting standardized methods, tools, and knowledge-sharing to enhance the efficiency and impact of analytical insights.
- Assist in achieving the goals outlined in the analytics roadmap as assigned.
- Identify internal and external information sources related to Merchandising, Products, Operations, etc.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
As a Senior Applied Analytics Manager, you will work alongside partners across our Insights, Data Science, and Analytics (IDSA) function, as well as Finance, Strategy, and Demand Planning teams. You will collaborate to enable Nike's Global Product Creation engine with insights that guide product decisions. Specifically, you will:
- Own relationships with diverse business partners within the Global Product engines at Nike, understanding current and anticipating future customer and business needs, as well as defining relevant strategic questions.
- Deliver presentations grounded in data that identify key trends, themes, and offer recommendations on solutions to key questions.
- Coordinate across Global and Geo-based teams of analytics professionals to ensure Nike's most complex strategic, operational, and commercial objectives are met and understood.
- Direct the development of models that help us deeply understand and measure the impact of individual projects on overarching growth objectives.
- Collaborate with both the Insights and Technology teams at Nike to enhance and optimize data capabilities.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Applied Sciences, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- 5+ years of experience in analytics/application with a focus on consumer management and retail.
- Track record of collaboration and experience working directly with partners.
- Passion for understanding consumer needs coupled with the ability to use analytics to uncover opportunities for growth.
- Strong presentation skills, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, including results packaging and development of management presentations of complex concepts for senior and business audiences.
- Demonstrable experience building positive working relationships and working successfully in multi-functional teams with varied levels of understanding of analytics.
- Demonstrated ability to use data to influence decision making.
- We are seeking candidates with a solid foundation in data wrangling and cleansing, optimization, simulation, and statistical analysis. This position requires a high level of proficiency in these areas.
- Proficiency in SQL is essential, with a preference for candidates who have experience working with large datasets.
- Experience with Python and/or R preferred.
- International/multi-market retail experience preferred.
- Experience in developing an understanding of customers, competitors, and retail trends, with knowledge of the sports apparel and footwear market preferred.
- Familiarity with Nike product types and how they are marketed and distributed to accounts is strongly preferred.
