This pivotal role will focus on driving enterprise strategy, executing strategic initiatives and creating new products and service offerings to drive our consumer businesses' growth. The ideal candidate has a history of being a solid strategic thinker, a track record of delivering within aggressive timelines, and demonstrated experience in working with, and influencing, cross-functional teams to deliver strategic recommendations.

Role Responsibilities

  • Take a leadership role in building Western Union’s corporate strategy and driving our strategic planning processes.

  • Identify opportunities in existing businesses and/or assess new business opportunities, to drive top and bottom-line improvements.

  • Assess market, consumer, and competitive research and analyses (working with research teams) to create a foundation of insights to inform strategies.

  • Build strategic rationale to justify and socialize new opportunities.

  • Create clear, structured strategic recommendations, communicated through concise storytelling that can be presented to C-level company executives.

  • Project manage key strategic initiatives including the roll out of new products and service offerings through the development of work plans that define cross-functional team roles and responsibilities and timelines to execute. Additionally, this role will need to own the strategic assessment, project initiation, design, planning, and monitoring of workstreams / efforts across teams.

  • Develop metric-driven business cases to quantify the investment and potential opportunity of new strategic initiatives and service offerings.

  • Manage relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute strategic initiatives and service offerings.

  • Be a thought leader and engage, influence, and become a partner to our senior executives across business lines and regions.

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor's in business administration or related field is required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred, although candidates with other relevant experience will be considered.

  • 8+ years of experience in strategic planning or related field – must have demonstrated a pattern of success in accelerating existing business or product strategies and driving new business or product strategies.

  • 4-5 years' experience, or equivalent with leadership experience.

  • Advanced level Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Financial Services industry experience preferred.

  • Strategy consulting experience a strong plus.

  • Product management experience is also a strong plus.

  • Curious and creative individual able to understand the complexities of the company's products and markets quickly.

  • The ability to observe and make relevant inferences from customer and market data.

  • Experienced in reading customer research output and effectively use the information to be translating into a clear understanding of customers' needs to drive company strategy.

  • Assess the reliability of findings, maintaining high standards for accuracy, relevance, and quality in deliverables at all times.

  • Highly effective in synthesizing disparate data sources and pieces of information to build strategic plans.

  • Experience with analytical and financial modeling skills.

  • Demonstrate experience in managing interactions and collaborating with senior business partners.

  • Recognized for results-oriented and a proven track record of managing projects from conception to rollout.
