The Legal & Policy Team is Snap’s dedicated in-house law firm, policy consultant, lobbyist, thought partner, and all-around advisor. We’re looking for an experienced, multifaceted litigator to join our Litigation Team!  

What you’ll do:

  • Be an active and strategic manager of a diverse range of matters within Snap’s complex litigation docket across multiple jurisdictions, running cutting-edge cases and making key strategic decisions

  • Oversee all aspects of outside counsel relationships on those matters, including the initial RFP process, fee arrangements, staffing, and strategy

  • Oversee substantive work on those same matters, including working with experts, editing legal briefs, preparing witnesses, and negotiating settlements

  • Provide wise counsel to business teams to help identify pitfalls from a risk perspective and head them off at the get-go

  • Collaborate cross-functionally 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly skilled in all aspects of litigation (e.g., brief-writing, legal strategy, discovery, deposition and trial preparation, expert witnesses); trial experience a plus

  • Demonstrated record of successfully leading significant aspects of complex legal matters

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Facility with eDiscovery, including managing voluminous document productions in a cost-effective manner

  • Ability to collaborate well with colleagues

  • Strong organizational and case management skills

  • Sound judgment on legal and business issues

  • Collaborative team player who can connect well with a broad range of people and knows how to provide solution-minded legal advice, cognizant of business objectives

  • Self-starter who is able to recognize and set priorities independently

  • Able to juggle multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced environment

Minimum qualifications:

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school and strong academic credentials

  • Active membership in at least one state bar in good standing

  • 8+ years of legal experience in litigation matters

Preferred qualifications:

  • Member of California Bar or Member of the California Bar’s Registered In-house Counsel Program 

  • In-house experience is highly preferred. If you have all of that plus experience with the tech sector, we’ll be blown away.

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $244,000-$366,000 annually.


 

Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $232,000-$348,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $208,000-$311,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
