Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Real-Time Payments Platform Manager to oversee our Zelle person-to-person payment platform. The ideal candidate will ensure its smooth and continuous operation while leading and managing multiple teams involved in Real-Time Payments and Transaction Processing. This role demands a proactive approach to managing and enhancing our real-time online transaction processing system in a 24/7 environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operation of the Zelle person-to-person payment platform.

  • Lead and manage multiple teams and/or scrums focused on Real-Time Payments and Transaction Processing.

  • Manage and enhance the real-time online transaction processing system to ensure continuous operation in a 24/7 environment.

  • Stay up-to-date with technological advancements and trends in real-time payment processing.

  • Collaborate with the development team to maintain and evolve the system, including technologies such as Java, Angular, mainframe relational databases (currently Oracle, transitioning to SQL), with a potential future migration to the cloud.

  • Consult with client management to analyze short and long-range business requirements, recommending innovations that anticipate future changes.

  • Build and maintain positive client relationships.

  • Monitor industry and vendor application trends, initiating necessary changes and conducting vendor and product analysis.

  • Oversee the design process based on business and technology requirements, managing escalated issues and concerns.

  • Stay informed about external activities that may impact the team or client environment.

  • Provide job growth and career development for staff members through training plans, guidance, and knowledge sharing.

  • Exercise managerial authority regarding staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management, and terminations.

Education and Experience Required:

Minimum of Associates’ degree and with 9 years’ technology or systems management/leadership experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 11 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 9 years’ technology or systems management/leadership experience

Proven experience in managing real-time payment platforms.

Strong leadership skills with experience managing multiple teams.

Expertise in real-time online transaction processing systems.

Proficiency in technologies such as Java, Angular, mainframe relational databases (Oracle, SQL).

Experience with cloud migration is a plus.

Excellent client management and relationship-building skills.

Ability to stay current with industry trends and technological advancements.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Effective communication and organizational skills.

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $115,703.73 - $192,839.55 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
