Tax Compliance Associate

Job Description:

 

The Tax Associate will perform indirect tax compliance functions for the company. This is a great opportunity for a someone with a strong business acumen and knowledge of tax and compliance to contribute to a key role within our accounting team. The role is highly visible, offers a positive, team-oriented environment and exposure to all areas of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the sales and use tax data is complete to prepare timely tax filings to various jurisdictions

  • Analyze and research transactions to determine the correct tax treatment

  • Prepare quarterly estimated tax payment vouchers

  • Perform tax research and communicate findings with internal stakeholders

  • Support tax compliance and GAAP audit by assisting in data gathering, account analysis and reconciliations, adhering to tax regulations and generally acceptable accounting principles

  • Prepare schedules and workpapers for corrective actions to tax notices, amended returns or audits

  • Assist with legal entity compliance with jurisdictional requirements such as preparation of Business, Professional, and Occupational Licenses, Annual Reports, Resale Certificate validation, etc.

  • Assist with Business Tangible Personal Property tax returns and any other state and local tax compliance as necessary

  • Work closely with the Accounts Payable team to manage disbursement requests to taxing authorities

  • Collaborate with internal and external business partners to gather information as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent work experience

  • 3+ years of professional experience

  • Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to prioritize competing tasks, anticipate resource needs, and meet deadlines

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Experience researching state & local tax laws and regulations using third party research tools

  • Construction firm, real estate, or development experience a plus

  • Experience with JD Edwards or another comparable ERP solutions a plus

  • Ability to carry out job responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
