Surgical Glaucoma Laser Specialist

The Surgical Glaucoma Laser Specialist will work with territory-wide glaucoma surgeons to sell Alcon DSLT equipment. Facilitate entire selling process including demo for surgeons and staff and thereby contributing to increased install base, sales growth and commercial objectives in the allocated territory.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • To become a certified DSLT Trainer

  • Contribute to sales targets in allocated territory.

  • Increase DSLT install base across territory.

  • Drive procedural uptake with install base

  • Comply with all legal requirements relating to role and business practice.

  • Generate and develop new business to meet specified goals.

  • Drive synergies with rest of Alcon SX portfolio

  • Plan and manage territory.

  • Maintain and nurture existing client relationships.

  • Understand and communicate information regarding company products, services, and policies and procedures to new and existing clients.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • You will be a hungry, driven, natural ‘winner’ with high commercial acumen coupled with exemplary technical knowledge. Even if your current scientific knowledge sits in another therapy area, you will have the natural curiosity and ability to learn a new and technically demanding therapy area.

  • Having a proven record of accomplishment within medical/surgical/Ophtha sales plus great technical ability is a must as well as being highly motivated, versatile, organised and a strong communicator.

  • Previous experience with selling capital equipment in the medical device industry is a further advantage.

  • Relationships are key and having a drive to understand customer businesses and identify needs is important as well as having the ability to challenge

  • Sales experience in hospital medical sales is a must. We would strongly prefer candidates to have surgical/medical devices experiences and or ophthalmic sales experience (ideally in Glaucoma or cataract surgery).

  • Excellent selling, relationship building and people-engagement skills. Equally comfortable demonstrating these remotely using virtual platforms as well as in person.

  • Very strong ability to take on, understand and converse in technically demanding, medical/scientific knowledge and language.

  • Ability to thrive in a surgical environment.

  • Proven track record of success in sales.

  • Experience and demonstrable success in new product launches.

  • Professional manner, proficiency, attention to detail, outstanding personal organizational skills. Strong customer focus. Highly proactive

  • Agile, flexible, and adaptable. High integrity in all business dealings both internally and externally

  • Above average technical disease area product and competitor product knowledge. Strong commercial acumen. Excellent internal (colleague) and external (customer) communication skills

  • Outstanding tactical execution skills

  • B.A. or B.S.C. Ideal but not essential

  • Willingness to travel extensively (including staying away from home when required)
