Job Summary
The Unified Communications Engineering team is looking for an enthusiastic Devops/Big Data Engineer with a passion for building and optimizing secure, reliable, scalable, and robust solutions. As part of this role, you would be working with Senior Data Scientists to build applications and services that can ingest high volume (10 TB+) data real time, parse and collect data to supply for machine learning, application development and data analytics. In your role, you will have unique opportunity to work with cloud native platform development team, data engineers and data scientists. You will get to know how each application interacts and develop interface or extract data using opensource tools, collect high volume files and parse it that can will be readable for machine learning algorithms. Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to deploy Big Data applications, data pipelines, ML modeling, reports/dashboards on cloud native environment.
Conceptualizing and generating infrastructure that allows big data to be accessed and analyzed.
Reformulating existing frameworks to optimize their functioning. Testing such structures to ensure that they are fit for use.
Design, deploy and manage scalable and fault tolerant infrastructure to be used for raw data streaming high volume for manipulation by data scientists, and ensure no data is lost during ingestion/store.
Deploy updates to applications, services and systems as required and implement integrations when needed.
Troubleshoot any issues that arise during testing and production by work with others to solve the issues.
Work with lead onshore and offshore engineers to automate deployments and processes as needed to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Work with team to design and maintain different storage solutions, builds redundancy, backups and keep data private in tightly secured environment.
Works with CI/CD, source control, code scanning, observability, dashboards and alerting tools.
Monitor and analyze resource usage to recommend/develop enhancements to system capabilities and performance.
Works with team members to brainstorm on ways to improve processes, deployments, and tools.
Skillsets:
A minimum of 7 years progressively responsible experience as a DevOps or Big Data infrastructure support Engineer.
Must have core skill sets or experience in deploying big data applications in a Cloud native environment and Kubernetes platform, preferably leveraging Spark, Airflow, Database management and SQL.
Experience with SQL, Kafka, Hadoop, Databricks, ELK, Jupyter notebook, DevOps methodologies is advantageous.
Experience in Linux systems administration.
Work experience in leading and mentoring junior engineers and hands-on experience using DevOps toolchain and container orchestrations such as Kubernetes and Docker.
Experience with cloud platforms including Openstack (preferred) and AWS
Knowledge in deploying applications built on programming language or scripting language such as Golang, Python.
Experience with configuration management and automation tools like Ansible and Terraform.
Knowledge or understanding of using and maintaining CI/CD tools such as ArgoCD and Concourse.
Experience with monitoring & observability tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk/Elastic Search, Alerta.
Ability to work with cross team members and take on complex tasks and resolve systems problems.
Ability to communicate professionally and collegially with technical and management colleagues and team members.
