Production Manager

2nd Shift

Mapleton, IL

The Mapleton Foundry is one of the largest in the United States and home to the largest core making machine in the world! Working at the foundry is hard work that demands focus and safety, quality, and commitment to helping our customers build a better world.

With over 1000 employees at the foundry, we are looking for strong leaders that can exercise sound judgment with mature decision-making capabilities, the ability to develop and train employees resulting in a cohesive team. Candidates should understand and demonstrate the principles of training, working safe, collaborating, and developing in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The production manager will be responsible for the analysis of data and coordination of multiple production shifts.

Responsibilities

• Managing staffing, development, and performance management programs for operations staff; managing, motivating, and developing management team.
• Overseeing operations activities, ensuring that safety, and schedules and performance requirements are met and system resources are used effectively.
• Monitoring overall operations performance and implementing production safety, cost, and quality control mechanisms.
• Ensures the compliance of all regulatory guidelines and forges a safe and sound manufacturing environment.

Top Candidates May Have:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
• Metallurgical or foundry experience

 Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.

Analytical Thinking: Level Extensive Experience

Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

Planning and Organizing: Level Working Knowledge

Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan

and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.

Process Improvement: Level Extensive Experience

Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods

and ability to maintains focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services.

Manufacturing Operations: Level Extensive Experience

Knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a

manufacturing plant or facility for products.

Manufacturing Safety: Level Extensive Experience

Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform

necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.

Production Training: Level Working Knowledge

Knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for delivering formal and informal training on

the safe and efficient operation of production machinery; ability to conduct effective formal and situation-specific training.
