Business Project Manager - Automation

Role Overview:

The Business Project Manager - Automation is a key contributor to driving automation changes across FIC, leading to a client-centric and highly automated organization. This individual is accountable for supporting the manual process automation program for FIC, monitoring and tracking progress of automation initiatives, leading initiatives in support of the automation strategy and for providing business project management expertise. This role is responsible for effectively leading change management projects, providing comprehensive support to business led automation initiatives, and enhancing the organization’s capabilities to address operational inefficiencies and identify opportunities for improvement.

What You Will Do:

Monitor and track progress of automation initiatives:

  • Solicit input from key stakeholders to track and report on progress of automation initiatives.
  • Monitor and track costs, benefits, and other key performance indicators for the automation portfolio.
  • Manage reporting on automation initiatives for FIC, and in partnership with other stakeholders across Fidelity Canada, support the overall reporting requirements.
  • Support the preparation of effective communications and presentations for business stakeholders and senior management.

Business Project Management:

  • Leads business change management projects to successful completion, supporting business stakeholders in achieving desired improvement in support of the automation strategy.

Plans and executes business initiatives that drive automation by:

  • Identifying resources required.
  • Assembling the team assigning duties to team members.
  • Developing a project plan with milestones.
  • Composing a project budget.
  • Leading change management planning and execution activities.
  • Directing and managing day to day assigned tasks.
  • Collaborating with technology project managers and/or technology leads to ensure completion of technology activities supporting business change.
  • Managing vendor and client relationships as required.

Business Project Coordination:

  • In partnership with the Business Process Managers, collaborate with business and technology leads to identify core processes in their areas, identify key areas for improvements and plans for execution of recommended changes.

Drive forward automation across the organization:

  • Partners with the business to define and execute business strategies for automation initiatives.
  • Leads discovery work for business initiatives supporting automation as required.
  • Supports automation initiatives, by providing business oversight, documenting needs/requirements, and driving effective change management practices.
  • Engages with strategic business and technology initiatives focused on enhanced client experience and/or operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborates with business partners to understand their automation needs and supports their automation and operational efficiency efforts.
  • Collaborates with technology teams to ensure alignment with IT tools and processes, and adoption of advanced technologies.  
  • Prepares effective communications and presentations for working teams and senior management.
  • Contributes to development of collaborative solutions, by leveraging technology and business expertise across Fidelity enterprise, and focusing on integrated, long-term strategy (no silos).

What We Are Looking For:

• A minimum of 3 years work experience in the roles related to Business Project Management, Business Process Management, or Business Architecture.                       

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the financial industry.

• Experience in leading cross-functional, cross-hierarchy change management initiatives,

including communication and relationship building.

The Expertise You Bring:

•College degree (3-year program) post-secondary education in the areas IT, Business, BPA/Management or equivalent experience.

• Project Management experience

• Customer journey mapping experience

• Six Sigma - Progression towards or completion of Green B.
