Interested in a strategic individual contributor role that is part enterprise data strategy architect, and part hands-on data solutions designer/architect for a GenAI environment?
We seek a senior enterprise data architect with GenAI solution implementation experience or relevant certification to join our Enterprise Data architecture team as a Director, Enterprise Data Architecture. Your focus will be towards our enterprise multi-channel case management (Pega) CoE where you will unify the client journey nationally across business units and be hands-on with GenAI and advanced analytics solutions.
Reporting to the global AVP, Enterprise Data Architecture your internal client group will be Sun Life Canada's Pega CoE. You will also collaborate and partner with the Chief Architect for Canada.
In this role you will lead advanced data architecture strategy as well as the design and implementation of GenAI into the Pega CoE data flows.
What will you do?
- Develop a data strategy to support Pega Data Operations and design a North Star view. This includes development of a Data analytics and reporting (BIX, Kafka, Realtime/Batch) roadmap to better align with organizational standards
- Provide future roadmap of even better utilization of in-house data assets amongst Pega applications.
- Develop data architecture patterns and define playbooks for data technologies.
- Define how GenAI will integrate with Pega data flows.
- Lead technology POCs and pilots in the data and analytics domain in partnership with Data and analytics teams.
- Coordinate with Data life cycle management program to guide all aspects of their delivery.
- Apply enterprise data architecture best practices to all solution architecture, design areas, including on-prem, Cloud (AWS), or a combination. This includes areas such as Operational Excellence, Security, Reliability, Performance Efficiency, and Cost Optimization.
- Mentor data systems designers (Data Architects), both within your team and within other enterprise services or business units, to support solution development and application of best practices.
- Collaborate with Data science teams to ensure most optimal usage of the latest technologies to better support Business Partners leveraging Pega.
- Lead and implement Generative AI use cases to best serve our applications
- Educate & train stakeholders on the use of GenAI solutions.
- Review capabilities of analytical AI solutions like Pega Process AI, Process Mining etc. and provide guidance to potential adoption.
Accountability
- Provide data architecture strategy, governance and technology standards for integrating GenAI into Pega dataflows.
- Partner with Data and Analytics delivery partners.
- Partner with Solution Architects
What do you need to succeed?
- 10+ years of prior technology design and build experience related to data service design, building data architecture and leading end to end implementations.
- 2+ years with AWS cloud-based data architecture including data lake technologies like Glue, EMR, Redshift, and Lambda.
- Hands on knowledge of data science (R, Python), LLMs and GenAI is essential.
- AWS Bedrock certified, or recent hands-on data solutions design experience with an AWS Bedrock PoC or solution implementation will be an asset.
- Real-Time data streaming technology experience such as Kafka or Kinesis etc.
- Open-source technology experience such as Kafka, Python, Spark etc.
- 3+ years of experience in leading the technology design architecture and analytics of external client (customer) data.
- Relational Data Management and Data Modeling techniques.
- Background of working with data governance and its application.
- Experience in the architecture of data analytics and visualization solutions using modern cloud based and open-source tools.
- Knowledge of MDM (Master Data Management) is preferred.
- Knowledge of Pega systems is an asset, but not required.
- 2+ years in a financial services industry environment is preferred, but not necessarily required.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
