The Data Science Director will play a pivotal role in driving strategic advanced analytics and AI/ML initiatives from conception through execution at Citi Wealth. The role requires a dynamic leader who will be a key architect for the data science practice at Citi Wealth and lead initiatives to deliver significant customer and business wins. Ideal candidate will have a strong track record in delivering commercial wins using advanced analytics and data science, proven leadership capabilities and deep understanding of wealth management industry.
Responsibilities:
- Analytics leader with experience in advanced analytics and information management across multi-product relationships for customers and households
- Must demonstrably understand the data sources and AI/ML analytic techniques that are used at scale by large consumer finance institutions, but also have significant experience leading and innovating in the areas of customer recognition, cross-channel servicing and marketing, digital acquisitions and attribution, client retention, risk and control applications through a series of appropriate business intelligence, analyses, models and strategies, implemented entirely via internal decision systems and/or leveraging external third-party partners.
- Significant influence and execution skills in ambiguous contexts, and should be able to articulate a regional strategy that stakeholders will accept, including colleagues in the areas of information technology, operations, marketing, finance, credit, fraud, and authorizations, in order to build next-generation cloud enabled data/ML platforms and analytics solutions that improve the customer experience and create sustainable business growth outcomes
- Passion for analytics as a craft and the people who practice it
- Be a practitioner and an advocate for the value of analytics in refining business outcomes and must have a demonstrated ability to work within the company and across industries to identify and source talent, design required training to cover analytics skills gaps, and grow and promote analytics talent
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of data science experience, including some managerial experience
- Experience working within financial services and proved track record of building and deploying AI/ML cloud powered data services/solutions
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences effectively
- Strong track record of managing and mentoring teams, driving strategic initiatives, effectively working across geographies and seeing initiatives through to deployment
- Excellent team player; ability to lead, partner and negotiate with cross functional team to successfully deliver client needs
Education:
- Advanced degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science or a related field
- Relevant certifications on big data technologies and platforms is advantageous
